  • STR/DEX/AGI vs Attack/Accuracy/Evasion

if anyone sees anything wrong in my logic, let me know, better than to be flamed for incorrect information than play the rest of your days misinformed.

    1 DEX = +2 accuracy
    1 STR = +2 attack
    1 AGI = +2 evasion

right? but if they were completely equal then why the different words at all? why can't everything be +DEX or +STR or +AGI. the fact is, they're not the SAME, they are different.

in picking my gear, i always choose the direct attribute modifiers over the +accuracy or +attack for a thf. for example, i would choose the merc capt gloves with the +1 AGI over the battle gloves with the +3 accuracy and +3 evasion. this is because a thf's bread and butter is his SA+TA+WS combo. SA being directly tied to your Dex, and TA to your AGI. and it always hits, so why worry about accuracy? only when i have to will i choose the attack modifiers when another armor piece does not offer the +AGI or DEX bonus.

the filler damage (between the SA's) is important i guess... and in a long fight the +accuracy or +attack may come out to more than the +1 AGI added to your TA SA combo, but that's a matter of opinion... there shouldnt be much left of the enemy anyway when u hit twice with your combo.

my question is: does the +attack modifier influence the SA+TA+WS, and if so, how much? tonight im going to equip an onion knife and see what the difference is, hope my party doesnt get pissed off.

i guage the effectiveness of my thf on the damage he pulls on a successful fuidama. at lvl 33, i pulled 373 damage NOT including renkei damage. and with only +8 dex and +5 AGI i don thtink that's too bad.

    Wow.

I wanna be like you when I grow up.

Good questions though... I have no idea. :p

PS - Is "fuidama" just the accepted term for the SA+TA+WS combo?

PPS - You can tell I like smileys, eh? :spin:

Strictly speaking, fuidama only meant sneak/trick but as ppl do more sneak/trick/ws in a fight then sneak/trick, it is generally accepted as the ws.

For a thf, try to use /equip to change equipment. Everytime jsut before fuidama, i would use /equip to change all my +atk and +acc equipment to +dex and +agi. Currently, before every fuidama, 1 will have to use 2 macro to change 6 pieces of equipement, 2 earrings, 1 belt, 1 helm, 1 chest and 1 gloves. Once fuidama is excecuted i change to the atk and acc equipments again.

Although atk does increase your attack, its increment is not as much as how much 1 dex can do. But as dex doesn't help much as acc in normal attack, i chose to equip atk and acc stuffs during normal hits and only use my dex and agi equipment before fuidama.

            Basically to change equipments...

            /equip bodyparts equipmentname

As for the name of the body part, you can check from your equipment list to see the name.
            eg..
            ear1
            ear2
            hands
            head
            body

Unlike /ja, /equip requires no time thus you can add alot of /equip in one macro with no wait..

To make sure i changed the equipments, i set my /equip macro together with my <call> macro. In this way i will definitely change before renkei since i will have to <call> everytime before ws. If you have alot of /equip to change, you may consider splitting your /equip macro into 2 macros or specifically put them into 1 macro with no other purposes other than to change equipment.

I always thought it was like this :

              2dex = +1 accuracy
              2str = +1 attack

Attack at least should be easy enough to test. Can anyone verify?

Really? I woulda thought the first assumption was correct.

So let's say you get a +5 Evasion item. You don't see your AGI stat go up by 10... so what do we mean when we say +1 Evasion = +2 AGI?

evasion and agi are independant variables...

2 points in agi, will give you +1 to your evasion
amount of evasion is dependent on the amount of agi
                          but its not vice versa.

same goes for dex and accuracy

+atk/acc/eva > +str/dex/agi in most cases except for ours in particular...since dex/agi directly boost our sneak/trick dmg we cant overlook base stat modifiers, on the other hand we cannot overlook the fact that we are dmg dealers and dmg over time is an important aspect(as you progress you will see that battles get pretty damn long...so DoT is a big factor...especially with missrates post 50)

when it comes down to it the big bonuses are what you want and yes they do add up, but +1's wont make much of a difference either way(unless you have tons of +1 pieces..which is kinda irrelavent since the big bonus items i.e lboots, emp. pin, etc are what u should be aiming for) so be aware of what you're shelling out major gil for.
