  • Thf and subs

I've read through the forum and still have a few questions about subs that I hope somoene with a little experience in them can answer.

    Thf/Drk
I've read that this isn't the best choice, but why is that? Wouldn't the 2 attack bonuses and Last Resort be a decent bonus to attacks? Or would the single attack bonus, plus Beserk on a war work better? I'm not exactly counting the double attack because I just don't see myself ever hitting for a significant amount of damage with a dagger on a regular swing, and its not 100% double attack.

    Thf/Sam
I've thought about it, but without actual experience with the Sam, I can't decide on this. Just how much faster would the TP gain be? Is it really worth going Thf/Sam for?

    Thf/Nin
First thought, "Cool!", but the thought about taking this just for the sake of duel wield doesn't really go well for me. True, holding a second dagger for stats will help, but is it really worth sacrificing the benefits you can get from subbing another class?

    Thf/War
If nothing else I intend to go with this. Double attack, Beserk, and a attack bonus doesn't sound bad. Not to mention in an emergency, Provoke/Perfect Dodge might save a group member or two from death. So my only question is, how has this combonation worked out for you bigger thieves so far?

Well to me it seems that THF/NIN is the way to go

Dual weapons and such give a great bonus to the thief and also try to get weapons with dex and agil on both hands

I'm going Thief/Ninja myself. Aside from Dual Wield, subbing Ninja also gives you big bonuses to DEX and AGL, which is useful for Thieves. In addition, you can use some Ninjitsu stuff that may come in useful, and since you are a rich thief, be able to afford.

Well, the thing is, I'm not trying to figure out a single class to sub, meaning which is best because I'll more than likely be lvling up more than one viable sub at one point or another. What I am trying to figure out is how well these subs work.

I understand the advantages of each sub, but I wanted a more accurate understanding of it. I know what skills and bonuses I'll gain from subbing these classes, but I have no idea just how effective they are. Which is why I asked. =)

Anybody have experience with both thf/nin AND thf/sam?
I've always wanted to be thf/nin, but i saw someone post how thf/sam is really fast on gaining TP..
but does sam's fast tp gain outweight nin's dual weild, ninjutsu, and added dex/agi?

              see also:

              additionally:

subbing Ninja also gives you big bonuses to DEX and AGL
The raw dex/agl benefits of subbing nin vs sam, war, etc, are MINIMAL at best. The _only_ significant stat benefit of subbing ninja comes from using fairly rare (and high level) +stat weapons in your offhand. Reasons for subbing ninja must be ninjutsu, the ability to throw a stat weapon into the offhand, or the fact that dual wield just looks damn cool. Anything else doesn't really hold water.

TP gain, etc, is pretty similar across all three, though I'd imagine samurai sub would edge out on top. The combination of dual wield and triple attack vs triple attack and double attack is 'roughly' similar. So long as you're getting your tp back in a reasonable amount of time in respect to your sneak/trick timers the rest is kind of irrelevant.

THF/DRK if you can wait a week or two I can try this combo and let you know. I bet when you do Last Resort you will kill yourself though LOL. THF/SAM = TP concen at 60 and very helpfull. You can end up doing two + vipers or any other WS during each fight.
