I'd like to know too. I was considering Mithra for thief/nin but I wanted to be blk/sum....so I looked into taru for thief/nin but after i looked...i didnt know what to choose.
Mithra for thief/nin & blk/sum
or
Taru for thief/nin & blk/sum
oh..i know blk/sum not too very good a combo but hey...i choose what i wanna be
IMO, best race overall for a Thief as your main job would be Mithra, followed by Hume, and then Elvaan. Taru just doesn't have the stats to be viable in this class. Also, take a look at the long run, down the road, your end stats will definitely show(this is even using Warrior as the sub-job...one of the best sub-jobs for Thief).
Your taking a massive hit on Dex, which is vital to the Thief class. Not to mention a substantial loss in HP. As far as the damage you would be doing in comparisson, I'd say that going Taru you would definitely suffer. I could very well be wrong mind you, but from the numerous sites I've been pouring over in anticipation of setting up my Thief/Warrior, I don't think I am. Taru IMO would be best suited to the Mage class where they excel.
But....again, this is just my personal opinion, in the end the choice is yours as to what race/job/sub-job you really wanna play. Its all about preference. I was just lending you an objective view on things you may not of known. :spin:
If you're planning on making your character a caster type also, then I'd definitely suggest Taru. When you switch to your caster role you'll be glad for the xtra mp. As a thief you won't be primary dmg dealer and Taru will be just as apt to do a thief's job as any other race imo.
Of course, you could just go on looks alone. Logging on as a Taru everytime would make me smile. They're just so darn cute :spin:
