All the more reason to reduce the timer even further beyond merits so they can spam just like the rest of us.
The ability to AoE status removals was certainly a reason for WHM to receieve the update that they did. (by the way, yes, I know you were being rather tongue in cheek, but I feel like talking about SCH "taking jerbs" anyway) But in general, I still find claims by other jobs that SCH somehow "stole" their roles to be dubious on several levels.
Back when Diabolos was first introduced, RDMs QQ'd that there was now means for other jobs to get Phalanx. And now they're QQing about how SCH can give it to people. But as Karinya said about Frost Armor, when do you ever really need 6 people to have Phalanx? At worst, you can look at Accession Phalanx and realize what a gross waste of a resource that was when you could've used it for something that will actually benefit more than one person. If nothing else, they just complained it was stealing something from the job's identity (...on principle in other words), which is a peculiar claim coming from a job that basically has it in its job description that it takes from other jobs.
WHM may have a little more of a legitimate reason to feel encroached upon by SCH, but certainly BLM does not. SCH is never called upon to be a main healer, except in manaburning situations. And whenever it is, it is more likely because of the SCH's lack of 75 BLM. SCH is demonstrated to possibility outdamage a BLM in one situation, where a fight drags on for an unusually long amount of time, something that doesn't happen when your LS has 4 BLMs for every 1 of your other jobs. Once you factor in things like Stun or reliable crowd control, things that are among the reasons BLM is so popular in the endgame scene, BLM really differentiates from SCH.
As for SMN, I'm still not sure what SMNs are getting at when they claim the job that can do their job better. SCH can AoE Enspell sure, but it's not like that was ever one of SMN's signiture abilities, especially in an EXP setting where it's more likely done just to offset the fact SCH does not have Haste. SCH can AoE Stoneskin, but if that's what the gripes are about, another job already beat SCH to "stealing" that: BLU.
When I'm called upon to be a SCH, the tasks I am assigned to do are so markedly different from the other mages, I really wonder exactly whose job I'm supposed to be stealing.

Weather Effects? Come take a nice close look at my Grimorie for a second. Closer, closer. WHAM! Stay away from my SCH abilities, thank you. Oh and passing out AoE Stat buffs would be mega-fail. One word: Fenrir. He already does it. That and SCH has to merit for the right to +7 your stats.
