    that was kinda my point too about the HP>MP gear, Sev lol I thought maybe there's something I'm missing...but I haven't been touched in like the last 5 lvls <_<...lolsmntank, {No, thanks} I'll let my avatar tank for me XD Even as main healer I didn't get beat on lol, so I'd rather have more MP at the cost of some HP XD, personal preference, naturally.

    Was out trying to farm the pop item for Sozu Rogberry today and a 75NIN + 75WHM duo pulled Bonze Marberry....needless to say, he wiped the floor with both of them lol I had Carbuncle out, Bonze started nuking random people so I assaulted him and let Carbuncle take him down lol All done with 1 Carbuncle lolz, and the help of 2x Healing Ruby II, but still <_< lol Carby FTW!

        In this game there are quite some mobs that have very damageing AoEs.
        Kirin's Stonega IV and astral Flow for example or Dynamis nins that like to Mijin Gakure.

        Those kinds of things can easily one shot an unsuspecting summoner and we don't get much HP as it is.
        HP is very precious to me, especially when soloing and on big fights.
        I've survived a lot thanks to keeping my HP up as well, I also don't have much MP compared to fellow summoners but I let my perpetuation gear compensate for that.


        (And psst, I do occasionally get hit when I solo. But don't tell anyone I told you that. )

          Speaking as an elvaan SMN, I don't use any Zenith gear, ever. I have the hands and legs for other reasons, but they're not particularly useful for my SMN compared to some of my other options, so I don't use them on SMN.

          I could go into my personal equipment setup, but it's long, slightly complicated, and rather boring, so I'll just say this. AF2 is some of the best equipment out there for SMNs, and it's not something that's going to cost you millions of gil. There are Dynamis linkshells out there who aren't corrupt, and if there aren't any on your server, maybe you and a few friends could consider starting one? I mean really, without AF2 or sea access, your options as far as hand and feet slots are pretty much limited to either AF or RSE, neither of which is overwhelmingly helpful for a SMN.

            Yeah, Stonega IV sucks, but when I did Kirin, generally had SS on as well as generally buffed by WHM for Barstonra/Shell V, on the rare occasions that it didn't get interrupted =P I know that's not the point XD, just saying. Normal routine for me was to BP > {Run away!} lol, rinse and repeat lol But I know everyone does things differently =), what makes the game fun ^.^;;

            As far as Mijin Gakure, if most mobs roll MG @70%+ HP, we're generally screwed anyways being under 1100hp even with no HP>MP gear lol XD

            I'd love to have more HP, but I love my MP more unfortunately lol =P

              Oh no doubt solo hp is very much needed

                We like to straight tank him, and interupting doesn't always work.
                the more people around during a cast, the less damage each person takes.
                Then again Astral Flow is something that is truely hard to avoid if you stand too close to him.
                Thanks to HP and stoneskin I've survived several times with less then 50HP on the bar.

                  Shirai, you're alot braver than I lol I wouldn't straight-tank Kirin, personally...unless maybe I was BLU and I could quickly buff for the necessary protection/stun(can't remember if he can be stun'd or not <_<, not the spell Stun, just Stun in general, like Head Butt for BLU)/interrupt lol My tanks have always kited the Kirin, while 3-4 SMN and bajillion-BLMs Lv.75-BP/Diabolos-ranged/AMII nuke the hell out of him, it was efficient for us =P, you using blink-tanks?

                    Though he's very high end stone based and will resist most of them it is possible to land stuns.
                    We try to interupt him mostly by high damage SATA weapon skills.

                    As for tanking, because Kirin's whirlwinds ignore shadows completely we use either paladins and ninjas.
                    Straight tanking him still involves a lot of death, but we're getting better at it.

                      Ahh I see, yeah, we used PLD tanks, generally 4 or so, so once 1 PLD dies, WHM can rez and the next PLD picks up the hate-kiting. The intriguing thing now is BLU/THF since they can SA+Cannonball for 800dmg a pop, which is usually bigger than most BP-dmg on Kirin. Never used a NIN tank on him since they tend to get eaten pretty quickly by Whirlwind and -ga nukes lol

                        Remember, SA needs positioning to land decently.
                        In my experience a kited Kirin moves around a lot so it's easy to miss the SA.
                        PLDs survive a bit longer most of the time, however if a healer misses a cure they go down just as easy as nins.

                        BTW, I can do occasional near 1k Predator Claws on Kirin hehe.
                        Normally They hit for around 550~650.

                          Lolz, true about PLDs and missed Cures.

                          Have to also remember, Shirai, not everyone has their merits capped on SMN XD lol Although it will be nice once I do =P Then Acc/Attk of BPs will be alot better and more consistent. ^.^;;

                          Btw, what's ur avg PC or FC on EP>DC mobs? Just so I know what I'm working towards =P

                              That is very true, but even without capped merits a decent amount of skill over cap adds a pretty good accuracy.
                              I have to say it's really hard to notice though, I only found out I indeed did better comparing accuracy with other summoners inside my LS which had no merits yet and/or didn't cap summoning magic skill.

                              Avarage damage, hard to say.
                              It really depends on the mobs I fight, on avarage EP-> DC mobs I do roughly between 1.5 and 2k damage.

                              Flaming Crush I mostly used on hpemde in sea, which avaraged 3k damage with up to 6k spikes before they changed the behaviour.
                              (All 3 hits used to land on open mouth doing amazing spike damage at times, but somehow they changed the behaviour without announcing it so the fish closes it's mouth after the first hit connects )
                              (Hpemde with open mouths have a 2.0x damage modifier on all damage types I believe.)
                              (Whoever wonders what I mean with Hpemde or Fish, check the silly looking pink beast in my signature.)

                              I also like to solo Sprinklers in sky, I avrage around 1.4>2.5k damage on those with Mountain buster.
                              However those have a 2.0x damage modifier for Blunt damage I believe.
