        I try to avoid wardrobe changes in general. The first time I lost my gear in a Beseiged it confused the heck out of me. I was sober... yet all my clothes kept coming off... and it was a weekday. It just didn't seem right at all.

            After I finally actually watched the video (I was lazy for awhile and really didn't care much, but finally my curiousity got the better of me) ...I saw no conclusive evidence to prove that he was using extended macros.

            If you pay attention... Every time the "Equipment changed" lines would exceed 4... It was because he hit two macros rapid-fire, one right after the other. He had a macro labeled "INT" right next to his "bind" macro, which I presume probably swapped rings, hands, and feet to +INT pieces. His bind macro, in turn, swapped to enfeebling gear (AF body, Nashira serawheels). This resulted in 6 or 7 consecutive lines of "Equipment Changed," but it's perfectly within the game mechanics to do this.

            Likewise, he had a MND macro next to his Stoneskin macro. He'd hit Stoneskin and then immediately hit "MND." And he had a "Nuke" macro next to his "Bliz3" macro. I was watching his button presses closely because of the controversy of whether or not he was using extended macros. He was ALWAYS hitting the two macros in rapid succession. He would have no reason to do this if he were, in fact, using extended macros.

            So I chalk this one up to a legitimate defeat. Yes, he had many pieces of equipment that not every RDM has which made the fight easier (Nashira legs, Crimson legs, AF2 head, Zenith feet, Zenith hands), but the guy can hardly be faulted for his sucess in obtaining several pieces of hard-to-get equipment on one single character.

            My end analysis is that there was no use of extended macros in this fight, and this guy is to be congratulated for a very entertaining and skillful defeat of a monster that was previously believed to be un-soloable.

              I love equip changes during Blood pacts.
              I have 3 sets of gear for on summoner alone for several purposes.
              Perpetuation, (Nashira Gages, Evoker's Pigaches +1)
              Attack, (Summoner's Bracers, Summoner's Pigaches, Sacrifice/Summoning Torque.)
              and Buff. (Full SMN skill +)

              During besieged I only have fenrir out to kill mobs however I never use any blood pacts because there is just too much lag.
              But those equip change macros sure come in handy for when a Lamia or UFO in sea decides to pull the pervert-move on me.

                I'm not going to deny that equip changes aren't useful, increase character effectiveness, and add a little more life to the game's economy, but I still think it's stupid and breaks the fantasy. How realistic is it for a ninja going toe to toe with a mob to stop and unstrap his scorpion harness, slip into his hauby's chain shirt, affix the standards, secure the shoulder plates, Blade: Jin something and then change back into his harness? Changing weapons? Ok. Changing pants and body armor? Wtf. Yeah yeah, this is a fantasy game and we don't always expect everything to be 100% realisitic, but when I think of Final Fantasy, teleporting trousers aren't part of the image. Totally put me off when I reached a level where equip swaps became more prevalent. Really breaks suspension of disbelief, imo, not to mention what a pain in the butt it is to target around. I think it would be much more interesting if people actually had to make choices about how they want to balance their character and what mods were going to be most useful for a particular activity, rather than carrying around 2-3 builds of equip.[/rant]

                Btw, Head Butt does not shred or own or whatever verbage I previously used to describe dominance over Diabolos, at least not from a rdm sub. We had some bad luck and some bad strats and I made a few mistakes that might otherwise have let us win, so this isn't a pure appraisal of HB, but the bottom line is that the stun effect just isn't consistent enough: maybe 60% as a generous estimate, though one of our members said she parsed it at 10% with mainjob blue mages. I find the low number hard to believe, but nonetheless. Nightmare is almost a 100% kill-you-all move unless you're all packing a barrel of hi-potions so you have to be able to stop it more consistently than that. I wouldn't want to do this fight again without a drk main for real stun. Axes, swords, and great katanas for stun ws work well too but there's the problem of the loooong recharge time between those. Head Butt's only real advantage imo is that it can be used so often, so you can attempt to stun every cast of Nightmare unlike the other options. That makes it an excellent fallback, imo, but not a good first line of defense because of its accuracy.

                    If your info is right and you're still 31rdm, you've got a while before you have to worry about it yet. The most I did at that level was swap between devotee's mitts and garrison/engineer's gloves and saintly/eremite's rings ... oh and holy phial and black neckerchief. I guess I still did quite a bit of swapping at that level, though it was probably unnecessary. At 51 you get elemental staves, which is when you'll want to start swapping equip with every spell. At 65 you'll start swapping between torques, and it's not for a while after that that you'll want to start swapping body, leg, and head pieces, unless I missed something.

                      yep that info is correct, a lowly 31rdm. I have been lvling my smn for what feels like forever!

                      I'm glad that I haven't got to deal with that many macros yet, I get muddled up enough already when switching from rdm to smn macros and then whm to blm etc.
