I think BLU would be increadibly useful as stunner on Ultima,
I went 1/2 on him as he really is increadibly tough especially without stun.
(First try was with only one BLM and 2 stunners at whole, got him down to 35% from when he went a tad crazy.)
He hits a lot harder then Omega does and pretty much spams a lot of TP moves, BLU learns a lot of different stun moves throughoutt the carreer and Ultima's evasion isn't that high as far as landing my Blood Pacts go.
    (Predator claws landed extremely consistently.)
Ultima has a couple of mean TP moves that either eat or ignore shadows but if fast enough can be stunned.

But that is something for the BLU forums.

As for that fight, also summoners are extremely useful as they are able to do massive damage to him and if done enough, enough to have the avatar take hate and eat a Cutadel buster instead of the tank.
(Also a fact which isn known by everyone, Physical Blood pacts don give enemy mobs TP )

So I believe that Diabolos is done with a very high level job too then? I don't really know what he looks like. I don't suppose there is a video around for this battle somewhere, made by anyone. I would be really interested to watch one if there is.

I'll go have a look around for any game shots of Diabolos in the meantime.

          Re: Fenrir Prime. I'm Confused.

You'll first fight Diablo as part of the Chains of Promathia mission. Level caps at 40 if I remember right.

After you pass the mission, you will be able to accept the "prime avatar" quest for Diablo. Which will be uncap this time.

Diablo can be very hard or very easy depends on your party set up... His deadliest move, night mare, will put your entire party to sleep with a very strong bio taking down your life -fast- without waking you up.... But if you have a few stunners, especially blue mages, they can spam stun on Diablo, preventing him from doing anything at all while you beat the crap out of him.

Is it still possible to manaburn Diabolos in the same way? The last time I fought him was before the patch that changed the manaburn thing, and our group took him down in about 30 seconds with me CS Stunning and 5 blm...

You can still do that. As long as he's kept stunned. If you can bring a couple BLU tho, they don't need 2hr to chain stun the poor diablo : /

I'll be doing Darkness Named this weekend if all goes well. I'm looking forward to Chainspell+Head Butt. ^^

                  Re: Fenrir Prime. I'm Confused.

How are resists vis-a-vis Chainspell+Headbutt compared to Chainspell+Stun?

Head Butt costs 12mp and Stun costs 25, so if your resist rate is low, RDM/BLU would be a much better choice since he gets twice the bang for his buck. I've been levelling BLU for this purpose, but I notice that some of my physical spells get resisted frequently by IT/IT++ Beastman type mobs, but that just may have been the Orcs in Davoi since they use this ability. I've had Yuhtunga Goblins resist it in XP Party as well, but I have no idea what the resist rate on Stun is.

I'm also trying to find out what actually determines Physical Blue resists... It doesn't appear to be BLU Skill since I can hit most enemies with BLU subbed without any significant problems as long as they're not strong versus the mob family... of course this is much farther off topic than even Diabolos in a Fenrir Thread.

                    Re: Fenrir Prime. I'm Confused.

Are we talking about the resist on the stun effect of Headbutt or actually landing it? I know that Headbutt, like all physical BLU spells, gains its accuracy from your melee accuracy - however, I've only read sporadic reports about its stunning effect when subbed, and what little I've read indicates the stun effect is much less likely to kick in when you're /BLU fighting something close to or above your level.

                      Re: Fenrir Prime. I'm Confused.

I haven't performed any tests, but drawing from common wisdom the accuracy of the spell is related only to your equipped weapon's accuracy, whereas the potency of the spell is a function of your blue magic skill. So as rdm/blu I should have no trouble getting Head Butt to hit at level 40 as long as I gear appropriately, but the damage and average stun duration will be lower. So long as the stun applies for even an instant that's enough to interrupt Nightmare, so it should be good to go. What remains to be seen is whether my low blue skill will reduce the chance that the additional effect of stun applies at all. That might be a problem.

At any rate, I've been told by people I trust for information that Chainspell+Head Butt shreds Diabolos in the 40-cap fight. At higher levels I would assume it would be ineffective because of the dropoff in rdm's melee accuracy.

                        Re: Fenrir Prime. I'm Confused.

At higher levels, /BLU's headbutt doesn't work vs. Diabolos. I speak from experience on this one. I went to do Diabolos prime with some friends a few months ago. A couple of them had BLU at or above level 37 and decided to use SJ BLU. I believe we had a NIN/WAR, MNK/BLU, PLD/BLU, BRD/WHM, RDM/DRK, and WHM/BLM. Neither the MNK nor the PLD was able to land head butt one single time out of literally dozens of attempts. Needless to say, following that debacle, the MNK and PLD swapped to other SJs and just let me handle the stunning... lol. But yeah, I would guess that it's based at least partially off BLU skill, since they were both so completely and utterly resisted every single time.

Neither of these jobs have Dark skill. Since Healing skill affects (or appears to affect) cure rates, it may be logical for one to assume that perhaps Dark skill affects stun rate. I don't know as I've not tested this, but I don't think I'd be ready to throw in the towel until I saw a BLM/BLU, RDM/BLU, or DRK/BLU tossing Head Butt.

Nah, you don't need enfeebling skill to land lullaby or singing to land sheep song, nor does weapon bash seem to be any more effective at stunning than shield bash.

Blu sub not working out in the uncapped fight doesn't surprise me, but has anyone seen it in the 40-cap?

I've been thinking about taking up SMN as my next 75 and this thread is getting me back into it.

As far as the extended macro thing, I've never used it but I can understand why people would. Having 16 equipment slots, and only 6 macro lines makes no sense. They need to change that some day, especially if they keep adding mobs like yovra and lamia to the game. I had to set up 3 macro slots just to put all my gear back on just so I could do the undead beseiged.
