Yay! Just Got SMN!

so the other day was on the ship to Mhura (i know thats not spelt right) and the pirates attacked. I was on my 45 THF and desided to get into the fray. There was a Lvl 75 WHM and a Lvl 75 SUM also fighting them, when the SMN cast Diablos and started kicking some major skeleton butt. I'm like, "Whoa! Thats freakin sweet!" So, since I was in the area, i went down to the beach in Bururimu and started killing some Leeches looking for the Ruby. To my amazment it dropped off THE THIRD MOB!! I nearly crapped myself! Anyway, I got all the needed weathers and got SMN and startedto Lvl. And it has been more fun then I could have even imagined! Even thought Carby kinda sucks, I was able to get up to Lvl 8 in like 1 1/2 - 2 hours (waaaaaaaay faster then when I lvled THF >.< ) But now I was just wondering, and I am sure this is posted somewhere, but I am at work and dont have a lot of time to look though every post. But Lvl do I have to be to get the other Avatars? Can I use my THF and get the help of other Higher Lvl players to help me beat them? Or do I have to be playing as my SMN when I fight them?

Just a little help please...

You can do the avatar prime quests at any level with any job, but you really won't be useful under lvl 60, I don't know what level your THF is, but there is the benchmark.
If you want to do the lvl 20 fights, you do them at lvl 20 (obviously) and still have to have the fame to get the mini forks for the battles. You do those as SMN only.

the Avatar Primes are the 'more' powerful versions of the avatars, right? but I can get all the regular Avatars at Lvl 20 then? ...so what Fame do I need to get the forks? and does evryone in the PT need the fork or just one (me)?

From what I gather the level 20 battles are solo battles, just you carby and the avatar.

the pime battles are hard and require lots of high level people allthough its been said that a Rdm and Bst have soloed the primes but i'm unsure if its true. Fenrir and Diablos dont have a lvl 20 fight as long as im aware but the others do

Also a hp regen food Persikos au Lait is the best but most expensive 4/hp every 3 seconds for 10 minutes I spent more here but saved on medicines so it evened out

There's sort of an "unofficial" terminology we use for avatars in SMN.

Lvl 20 quests are normally referred to as the "mini's" or "tinies", since they show up in the log as "Trial Size Trial by X". These are the solo battles, and will give you a free warp to the BC on SMN main job until you beat the tiny quest. Tarus, as always, refer to these as the "Tiny Avataru Quests".

The regular avatar quests that you do with a ~65 lvl group or some 70s are referred to as the "Primes", or rarely as "normal avatars". These were the original way to acquire avatars.

The last grouping is the avatars for the "Waking the Beast" quest. These are usually referred to as "Avatar 2.0". They require an alliance, most of you need to be around or above the 67-70 range, and you won't receive any award til you beat all 6 and Carbuncle Prime's various incarnations at the end. This quest is a quick way to regain respect for the little blue furball.
