Re: Summoner Update
Not every job will change on this update, they do it gradually. They ARE going to change SMN though, it says somewhere on the site: Bloodpact timers are being split into two groups, a seperate timer for offensive and defensive bloodpacts. You will also gain summoning magic skillups when using bloodpacts. And.. something to do with some gear you wear giving your BP's an attack bonus.
Try to have a LOOK around before you make a thread, I'm sure the info I gave has been posted somewhere.

Re: Summoner Update
I haven't seen them on these boards yet so here goes:
Please do correct me if I'm wrong and they are posted.
[ Summoner ] - Powerful mages with the ability to use their mana to call forth mighty avatars.
Changes regarding summoning magic skill:
1. Blood Pact recast time will now be based on the type of special attack used--healing/enhancing or damage dealing.
2. Summoning magic skill may increase not only when summoning an avatar, but also while using Blood Pact.
3. Blood Pact special attack bonuses may be earned while equipping items that give summoning skill bonuses.
Please look forward to seeing these changes in the next version update!Quetzalcoatl Server | WHM 80 | SMN 76 | NIN 75

Re: Summoner Update
im confused. they say that smn skill+ items will increase bp effectiveness but does this mean that smn skill will now dictate bp damage?
like say I have [1 smn with 0 skill] and [1 smn with 65 skill] both lv20
will they both do the same damage after this update if they both have no smn skill+ eq?
or will the 0 skill smn have higher dmg if he doesnt skill up and just uses smn skill+ eq?

Re: Summoner Update
im not sure where you read that they are creating 2 seperate bloodpact groups.
Read what it says again.
1. Blood Pact recast time will now be based on the type of special attack used--healing/enhancing or damage dealing.
If you use a healing BP, it will likely only be like a base 30 second recast on bloodpact untill you can use it again, But if you use an attack it may be 45 seconds or still base 60 seconds.
"Blood Pact recast time" not Timers.
No where does it say there will be two seperate counters for them.

Re: Summoner Update
I'm also pretty confused about what this exactly means.
If we do indeed get 2 timers or as Aurial sais the recast per used Blood pact will just differ.
Also I have no idea on how summoning skill will influence our buffs/damage.
I currently have 248 skill with a 269 cap at level 75 with some + skill from AF/AFv2 so I will have to put that to the test.
SE didn't release any details yet just this so we can only wait.
I will keep my eyes open though and post more details as I meet them.
(As long as noone is ahead of me of course. )

Re: Summoner Update
Lesse the max +Smn magic skill you can get from items is:
+5(Evk Hork/+1)+7(torque)+3(earring)+12(Smn Bracers+1)+10(Evk Ring)+4(Penance Slops)+5(nashira crackows)+5(Astute Cape)+5(Bahamuts Staff) For a grand total of +56 skill.
Throw in max skill merits for +72 skill. 269+72...I wonder if it would be worth it
EDIT: It very well might be.Last edited by Gobo; 10-03-2006, 06:45 AM.sigpic

Re: Summoner Update
The information released about the SMN change at the Tokyo Game Show seemed to be cryptic at best. Hopefully when they expand on what exactly they're going to be changing we'll be able to tell just how much they plan on fixing SMN. With how quickly they've been releasing information on the upcoming update, I'd say that we're looking at about a week tops for info on the SMN changes. Lets all keep our fingers crossed!RDM 75 - SMN 72 - WHM 37 - BLM 37 - DRK 37 -

Re: Summoner Update
Hohoho!!
Update Update read all about it!
Latest news hot from the presses!
Job Adjustments: Summoner (10/03/2006)
The next version update will feature adjustments to several jobs. In this installment, we would like to describe the changes on the way for summoners.
Changes to the Summoner Job
Summoners use the Blood Pact pet command as their main way of doing battle. Both attacks and support/healing magic are included in this command and operate with a single recast time.
The development team has decided to split Blood Pact into two commands to allow players to select a strategy to fit the current situation once every minute.
[The New Blood Pacts]
The summoner pet command Blood Pact will be divided into two categories, each with its own recast time. "Blood Pact: Rage" will focus on direct damage and special attacks, while "Blood Pact: Ward" will center on support, enfeebling, and healing magic.
· Blood Pact: Rage (Recast time: 1 minute)
Orders the avatar to use special attacks.
· Blood Pact: Ward (Recast time: 1 minute)
Orders the avatar to use support abilities.
[Summoning Magic Skill]
- Effects on Blood Pact
Blood Pact will receive different effects when the value added by equipment or merit points exceeds the skill cap for that level.
For example, players can experience increased accuracy when using Blood Pact: Rage or lengthened effect durations when using Blood Pact: Ward. The length of the duration increased varies depending on which Blood Pact is used, but will not exceed 180 seconds.
A player whose summoning magic skill is lower than the skill cap will not experience any penalties, such as a decrease in accuracy or shortened effect durations.
- Skill Increases
The instances in which players can increase their skill will also be changed in accordance with the adjustments to summoning magic skill.
Originally, calling forth an avatar would sometimes improve a player's summoning magic skill. Soon players will also be able to experience increases in skill when using the Blood Pact: Rage and Blood Pact: Ward pet commands.
That wraps up the job-related changes coming in the next version update. More are scheduled for future updates, though, so keep checking the main page for the latest news!Quetzalcoatl Server | WHM 80 | SMN 76 | NIN 75

Re: Summoner Update
Its everything we've hoped for and more. Lets hear it for 18 min Earthenward (i doubt it will get the full 3 extension lol). But really, maybe Crimson Howl and Hastega will be worth casting.
And hey, The AF1 horn might actually be better than the AF2 horn XD
ohh ohh will this upate (with capped skill and +skill items) make shiva.....accurate!?

Re: Summoner Update
The thing I'm happiest about is the fact that your damage/accuracy/buff length won't be lowered if your SMN Magic skill isn't capped. I will cap mine, but at the moment I'm only 15, and not in a rush to do so
Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D
