Actually the place with almost perpetual ice weather would be Uleguerand Range. Unfortunately, getting there isn't practical unless you have the Xarcabard gate crystal key item and a WHM who can cast Teleport-Vahzl, and you have to go through Beaucedine Glacier to get to Xarcabard the first time.

Took me ten hours to get that damn ruby! 6 of it was solo hunting, 2 was with a friend, and 2 was with a FULL PARTY. All hunting was done on the beaches of the Penninsula. Another LS friend got his ruby in the same spot, on the 15th mob.

Took me about three hours to get the weather effects. Ice was easy, just went through Raungemont Pass to Glacier. Heat gave me the most problems, by far.

wow...honestly it took me 2-3 hours to unlock SMN. i dunno why i unlocked it i might not lvl

Well, ive just unlocked it.

Took me 6 RL hours in BuBu, on khoona dunes. I had a WHM/THF and a WAR/MNK help me (RDM/BLM) - all lvl 30/15.

All i got left to do now is get Ice and Heat.

Got to the glacier and it was Dark weather, so i logged out. Hoping when i log back in its Ice.Then...wait in Valk for Heat!

I got mine just today, it took about 10min, i had a level 75 white mage help a brother out, killed them all in 1 hit and got me the ruby asap, now when we were trying to get another right after, hours passed and there was nothing...

Funny this thread should get updated - last week I unlocked NIN, and as we were killing potential links around the area of the NIN NM, a Carby RUby dropped on the 2nd or 3rd one!

It seemed a shame to drop it...

Missed the ship to selbina, got a tell from a level 30 Whm to help him kill some leeches, went out killed the first leech it drop. He was a happy camper =) Sam/Thf at the time btw

Just to add to this, I've been trying for over a week to get Carby's ruby using RDM/BLM with no luck (when I started, my RDM was only a few points into level 28 and now I'm only 1,800 EXP from level 31), then today I tried using THF as my sub instead and got it from my very first Poison Leech!!

I don't know for sure whether it was due to the high volume of leeches I've killed over the last week and the odds finally caving in, or if it was because of my THF subjob, but it seems a high coincidence that as soon as I switched to THF I got it straight away. For anyone else trying to get it, I would definitely have THF as your subjob (provided it's at level 15 at least for the Treasure Hunter job trait).

Now I just need to get those 7 colours....

what lv would be a good lv to try to start this quest? How high of a lv would I have to be to solo these leeches and how high would I have to be, and with how many people would it take to get the summons all together? Well, at least a couple like ramuh, shiva, and fenrir? I am currently a 25rdm/12blm, so I know I still have a bit to go before I can start the quest, but I would just like to know ahead of time. Thanks in advance.

You can start the quest once you get a job to 30. And you can solo the avatar at 20 smn or you can get some high lvl buddies together and fight the Primes. I've been doing the prime fights and once I get my smn to 20 I'm going to do the mini fights, just so I can say I've done both. Good luck with it.

As far as the OP, it took me three days to get mine (something like 21 rl hours total). First day it was me and a friend in Ordelles cave, second day we got a 64 thf and 50~ smn to come help, third day it was my friend, me, 2 75 thfs, 68 smn and a random person that we picked up along the way that needed one too. We went to the Maze and smn trained all the leeches and we would each grab a couple and start killing took us about 6-7 full trains to get the first drop, the second came about 2 leeches later.

i recommend finding the hidden leech area thats behind the rift and lake in.. hmm.. i think batallia.. its like.. way off to the left. ->

I got the ruby on like the 5th leech i killed. i was lvl 31 thf, and i was with a 40something rdm.. it was easy as hell.


and the flatness of the area is really easy to see the leeches

Well after 2 hours solo farming with lvl 15 supprt job, a LS sum friend came and did the other beach in BP. after an hour we still ahd nothing.

Logged for lunch and then met up again and started. 20 minutes later nothing. Then we had an interlectual conversation about victorian archtiecture (i'm an architect hes an architectural historian) and it dropepd 2nd mob while we were talking.

This has happened to me before, talk interlectually and I get lots of drops lol!!

Anyhows now I'm in the long laborious process of getting all the weathers. typically out of all areas to get heat none will for 5 days all duststorms, clear weather or wind. I have clear, Ice (high level ls friend escorted me through the pass to the glascia), wind, stone and water. I;'m just about to head to qufim for thunder as weather checker says storms, but ehat will take time, not even kazham is hot yet I will get it soon.....

I've found the easiest way to get the lements is to just teleport, or have a WHM teleport, you between the various tele crystals until you have them all. Tahrongi usually has earth or wind, La thine wind or rain, konscant thunder, Xarcabard ice, and Altep heat. You can also stop by Yhoat for heat or rain. Having all tele crystals is definitely good ^^ not to mention most WHMs will do this fairly cheap, or teletaxis will let you just tag along with them wherever they go.
