heh i call it all all sorts of things. And also, ENM stands for Empty Nortorius Monster. They are like BCNMs/KSNMs only to access them you have to do a mini quest and you are limited to 1 per 5 days for that particular zone. The extra plus is that there is no EXP loss if you die in it.
Yeah, decided I wanted to be a Taru, hehe. I still got 'til Monday to change my mind (for that is when I get the game)...chances are though I'll be a Taru. I love the thought of having some huge summoned avatar behind this tiny little teddy-bear type thing.
Just a warning... Characters don't look exactly like how you see during the character creation screens. Although, Tarutaru are pretty close to the character creation animations. Some of the mithra faces are really different (in my eyes).
Still, sounds like you have the right idea. Go with what you like the best, for whatever reason. Stats aren't that important.
Generic Info!
Yay for broken connection preventing me from exping/meriting!
I personally do not like the idea of having a summoner main heal, or even backup heal without summoning at all. If everyone screams "Do your job!!!!",then why can't the summoner be allowed to summon, and if worst comes to worst release the summon and help the whm backup heal. This is one of the reasons why summoners usually have a hard time capping, or even raising for that matter, their summoning magic. Because of this, most capping happens outside a city and can last for HOURS because yea you will get many invites as a summoner, but not because of your main profession. Sorry just needed to vent a little lol ok.
Because at or around level 55 you start to become a badass =)
pre 54 - you can blink/stoneskin/haste/stat-buff the entire party
54- Fenrir and boost party accuracy and evasion for 3 minutes
55 - carbuncle can do 400+ damage with meteorite
60 - You get Tier IV magic spells on each avatar (Thunder IV etc)
65 - Fenrir gets eclipse bite and starts melting faces off (1500+ damage)
Carbuncle gets healing ruby II can cure entire party + himself
70 - You get your final physical Blood pact ability (800-2000 damage on average) per avatar
70+ you get so much awesome equipment that you're unstoppable!

How's that for optimism?
Yes that sounds like and awesome reason why people should be summoners
Summoner with /whm sub is far from a souped up whm, they make poor whm. :/ After spending one party spam curing you realize that fast. Parties where I've had to spam cure have always sucked xp wise. However, summoners can make good split/primary healers with the right party setups. As a main heal, in effective parties I spend as much time buffing and nuking as I do curing.
Summoner is a job that requires a lot of versitility to adapt to the party situation. It gets easier as you have more spell options and get used to the job itself.
I haven't read EVERYONES post, but my reasoning is this;
I wanted to play a job that's USEFUL for the most part, that will be needed and not overlooked, since I have played alot of DD's before. I like SMN because although I'm a main healer, unlike a WHM I'm not limited to doing just that, I'm also a DD/buffer when I need to be. So if I have to heal to get higher where the damage is, I'm happy to because I'm useful. It's not a AMAZINGLY expensive job, and the benefits up the road are huge, able to solo alot, and pretty useful in raids and stuff. It's an all round good job.
Hmmm....My Eclipse Bites are only doing about 480 damage on exp mobs...what am I doing wrong (level 66)?
Not at all, it really depends on the def/vit of the mobs you're fighting.
A lot of Aht Urhgan mobs have extremely low def so it's possible to do those 1k+ bites on em.
On regular VT/IT land mobs that 480 is pretty much the normal damage.

I've done as low as 200 or so and as High as around 1700. Just depends on what you're fighting and how well it hits
