  • Fenrir, how exactly...

    Hello everyone!

I'm really confused about Fenrir and how/when I can get him. My few questions are...

What exactly am I suppose to do with my Mini Forks? Do I keep them, or turn them into an npc?

And is it possible for me to get Fenrir at 20, after I get all the others?

    Thank you so much!

There's only one quest to get him, and it is not level capped and cannot be soloed. Once you have all the avatars, there's no point in keeping the miniforks.

Technically, it is possible to get fenrir at level 20, but it would require buying a lot of help or having enough level 75 friends that owe you a large favor...

      Process for getting Fenrir:

      1) Obtain all avatars, either through mini-fights or regular battles.

      Option A - Obtained through Mini-battles:
      2) obtain rank 6 fame in all nations
      3) kill all avatars in the standard level 60 battles to obtain whispers
      4) turn in whispers to NPC in windurst to get your moon bauble (this is like a tuning fork for fenrir)
Optional) Obtain toraimarai canal backdoor access for easier access.
      5) Fight fenrir in uncapped level battle. If <70 you will be "leeching", and most likely you will be told to do absolutely nothing. Pray the battle goes in your favor.

Option B - Obtained avatars in "standard" fashion.
      2) kill all avatars a second time in the standard level 60 battles to obtain whispers
      3) turn in whispers to NPC in windurst to get your moon bauble (this is like a tuning fork for fenrir)
Optional) Obtain toraimarai canal backdoor access for easier access.
      4) Fight fenrir in uncapped level battle. If <70 you will be "leeching", and most likely you will be told to do absolutely nothing. Pray the battle goes in your favor.

The "Optimal" party for leeching fenrir is probably 5 75SMN, or 4 75SMN and a Bard for Dark Carol and Ballad. Anything besides that is probably going to need luck or very good players. I'm told the fight is very hard for 6 75s, bumping it down to 5 active combatants only makes it harder.

To put it in perspective, I am currently offering 150k per member to people I meet who have smn at 75 to take me to kill fenrir. I have not had one taker.

Ask Tirrock, I think I asked in game I don't mind if your connection sucks, please come? ^^b

My connection is bad enough that I don't exp, but okay on a fight that's hard enough with 6, let alone 5? >_>a

Thank you both, espeically you Atma ^^

Two more questions, after I get the Avatar is it okay to throw away that fork?

And if I throw away a Mini Fork, is it possible to get it back from the right NPC?

Once you have the avatar the only reason to fight a mini-battle again is if you really enjoy fighting them at level 20 and solo. I don't know if you can get another mini-fork or not, I'd imagine you could, but I've had no reason to try.

I can't recall exactly when it's safe to throw away the fork, I'd wait till you have the avatar summon available, after that you can chuck it.

Unfortunately after completing the quest you can no longer get free cloister warps for life (I.E, you can no longer do mini-battles. They are not repeatable quests) If you try and fail on the mini quest, you will still have the fork and can throw it away. (it will be no good after being used, fail or succeed.) If you throw it away, you can get a new mini fork after a set period, I believe it is 1 IRL day.

You should hit up the mini-forks though tirrock, free cloister warps once every IRL day. Get mini fork, trade to taru, get warped to cloister, chuck fork, go do whatever you want. Great for getting to altepa or fei'yin if you need to ^^

I get around fast enough. Outpost warps to everywhere but gustaberg (which is useless anyway). Plus I already did the shiva mini-battle just to see what it was like, when it first came out. I ended up getting leviathan and ifrit through mini-battles because people kept getting lost in den of rancor/ifrits.
