    Exp and Pets

    Hello! I just got my WHM to 30 recently and I've been hunting the Carbuncle Ruby for two days now, trying to get this job Yay. Anyway I was reading up some guides while waiting for my farming partner and I came across a EXP guide.

    It says that summoner pets steal EXP from the summoner... but a reply to that was it wasn't true. But now I'm alittle worried... is this true or not? Does a pet really lower my exp as a summoner?

    No, it does not effect Summoner XP.

      Elipses said it right,

      Our summoned pets do not effect exp gained at all.
      Where that in fact comes from is beastmasters and their pets.
      A charmed pet reduces exp depending on how high the pet level is.
      This does only effect charmed pets, SE has removed the exp penalty from Jugpets.
      This was done to make it more attractive for beastmasters to party.

            I think they changed it now so that the PT doesn't get an EXP deficiency when having a BST with a charmed pet, but only the BST does... Or was that only for jug pets?

              Parties never did get penalised solely for a BST having a pet. The only way it can happen is if the pet has a higher level than any of the party members (i.e. if the BST is the highest level member and charms a T or above).

              Damn Brady Guide spreading misinformation...

                lol 3 yrs later an its still to damn hard for bst to get parties, my ls wont even take me cause they still believe the brady guide. so i solo near them an let em die. idiots.

                if your having trouble with your ruby, burb penninsula has the best drop rates for them,.

                Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

                  yeah burb is best. i got mine last night. Took about 40-50 minutes. We killed 36 leeches i think
