Grats and happy b-day! ^^ Kinda late, I know.

I always try to keep mine capped. I think I'm kinda OCD like that. But it does get boring very quickly. I'm 129.3 @ 43SMN right now.

Though once, I had a sort of Summoner skill up get together. It happened quite by accident. I was skilling up, a newbie summoner decided he'd join to, and asked me for tips and whatnot. Another newbie summoner straggles by, and we just talk over everything and anything while summoning away. Then one of my ls members walked by us and stayed even though she wasn't a summoner just to chat, too. It made the whole experience go by much faster, and I made some friends. ^_^' I think we all ended up capping before we went our separate ways. I actually had *fun* during that round of skilling. Doesn't happen often anymore as I tend to skill up at the Rolanberry-Jeuno zone. Maybe I should go back to West Ronfaure.

I try to keep out of discussions where emotions are running that high, but truthfully I thought that was a bunch of horse-doo-doo. How many MNKs really have capped guard skill? How many PLDs have capped club? How many RDMs have capped elemental magic? (OK, I do, but there's a long and stupid story behind that) How many BRDs have capped sword?

The difference is SMNs use their summons during parties and Summoning Magic can be leveled solo. None of the other things that you listed can be done solo easily.

PLDs don't use club and BRDs don't use their swords since they have better weapons or are too busy to be whacking the mob.

Capping elemental magic as a RDM is a lot less tedious than capping Summoning Magic so I would be surprised if there were RDMs running around without capped Elemental Magic. In addition RDMs are expected to at least magic burst.

MNKs need to be in battle to cap Guard and one is hard pressed to find MNK willing to tank. It also becomes a lot harder for them to level Guard as they get higher in level.

Is leveling Summoning Magic tedious? Hell yes! When I'm bored I go to Al Zhabi and try to level my Summoning Magic (because the Mog House is right there so I don't need to rest).

I would try to keep it capped because SE has mentioned that they plan on making Summoning Magic more useful other than spirit casting times and interruption rates.

Would I stop everything to keep it capped? Probably not. I would try to keep it leveled though because once SE implements a direct correlation between Summoning Magic and something useful, I will want to spend as little time as possible standing around trying to level my Summoning Magic skill when there's so much more that I could be doing.

Congrats, i remember the day i capped my summoning skill was while farming in quicksand caves. It actually made me kind of sad and then i cracked out on merits, because at that moment I realized I would never see my skill go up again.
