Actually, Carbuncle Prime is one of the hardest fights in game. You get to fight him with an alliance after the "Awakening the Beast" Quest (the 18-person Avatar Fights). He uses Searing Light every 30 or so seconds, and changes his for into one, two, or three random avatars at once.
