If Odin isn't a summonable avatar, than I will be truely disapointed. He is the one thing I was looking forward to in the Expantion.

Wasn't there rumor to being two new avatars being released soon after the expansion? Or did I just make this up, and I've been anxiously awaiting these new additions? lol

Photoshopped. The "Dark Rider" and his horse are all one .DAT, as far as I know.

Well from pics I've seen of it's model and textures, it seems the horse and the rider you could easily separate. So just seems like someone could of just swapped in a chocobo that they modified to fit the rider.

The rider and the horse are in the same dat, I believe. I don't know jack about dat modding, but it seems to me like it'd be significantly easier to just find a background, edit out the horse, and shove "The Dark Rider" ontop of a chocobo.

The .dat files are the same but the textures are separate.. and from what I've looked at in the model viewer, it should be easy to separate and swap the horse.

SE did mention that they are planning to add new avatars in the future, they just dont know which ones yet.

Anyway, what is this dark rider, and where does he appear?

To all naysayers who said Summoner wont be a job: proved wrong

Yes Bahamut is in storyline and was confirmed not to be a avatar ever.
Odin is same size as Diabolos I thiink and not like Bahamut and second is a random smn that you dont control-he just appears to assist randomly in which I think he will in FFXI. If he in storyline so what so was Diabolos.
Phoenix will be next controllable avatar with Odin being random avatar. By the way all smn that will be in game are mention in the ingame sky chart. If they are not in that chart they probably wont be in game. And Phoenix is in the sky chart.
Most naysayers are Black Mage, Red mages: mage jobs that don't want Summoners to get more avatars and be coolest mage job. Well too bad just be happy about your jobs and stop hating Summoners.

In some of the others, didn't you have to fight odin to obtain him? Also, I'm not a summoner in-game yet, but don't you have to fight Diablos to get him? Let's just be patient and see. As the Dark Rider goes, Odin's horse had six legs, not two.

I also however, heard news of new summons, somewhere, but I forget where, but I specificly know that Odin was a new one.

As I know SE said they would introduce new avatars, I have no clue what so ever which they will introduce.

Odin, Phoenix, Alexander..
All I can say, rumors, nothing proven, nothing consecutive.
Except that there will be new avatars.

Will I be disapointed if there would be no Odin or Alexander or Phoenix?
No, I just hope they are useful and give me good fight.
(Although not as hard as Diabolos was tho...)
Will they be summonable?
Nobody knows except for the programmers and developers at SE.
And knowing them they'll leave us in sweet surprise until they realease them.

At the FF festival held not too long ago the SE developers said that they WILL add new avatars, they didnt know which ones, but they will. As much as I would like to see Odin and Phoenix I have come to think that at leat phoenix is out of the possibility at the moment. The reason I state this is simply becuase Phoenix is heavily related to the "far east" and with Tenzen etc, and we are in the "Near East" who knows, maybe in the upcoming patches something will develop towards there but its mere and pure speculation from my part. For those of you who have seen the last cutscene from CoP Where Ulima sings that beautiful song, the very very last ting you see points (or at least I want to belive so) to phoenix so.... im keeping that window of hope open.

As for the Dark Rider, well there is not solid information about him as of yet. Do not forget that SE likes to change the way certain mobs look, I know and I have read it endless times that Odins horse has 6 legs, while others state thay it turly has 8. The matter of fact is that SE can make a different version of Odin for this game, and well proof is that we are thinking it is Odint, but so far it is the "Dark Rider" The interesting question here is.... so far there are no horses in Vanadiel and he is riding one..... Any comments on that?

In mythology, Odin's horse had eight legs I believe. But in most FFs, he had six. I know for sure in 3 he had four legs.

Odin is the Dark Rider, there's no doubt about that if you've read the labels SE gives the texture files.
