  • Macro setup of the future .. ?

Here http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/new...tml#post542608, a thread about the new expansion hints that we'll be seeing new avatars (possibly Alexander and Odin ^^).

I'm all for this of course, but how the hell are we supposed to set up our macros with all these avatars?

Will we have to redo our macro setup to adjust for the area we're fighting in at the time, to make sure we have the proper avatars ready, or will some of these new avatars replace old ones?

All the suggeded macro setup guides I've read are based on the 8 avatar system, and currently with Diabolos we're stretched a little more.

Also: -_- how're we going to fit Alexander on the screen? Am I going to have to get someone else to stand 100 yards away and take a screenshot of him to see my own avatar? -_-

You should already redo your macro's if you're taking up more than the amount allotted.

2 avatars per macro palette, minus 1 for common macros, should give you slots for 18 avatars. You really don't need anymore than that.

I got my original ideas here: http://www.summoner.info/

If you have 2 avatars per palette, don't you have to switch palettes all the time? how do you do that quickly enough?

Re: Macro setup of the future .. ?

I only macroed abilities I used often. In total, I have two SMN macro sets. One for dynamis/HNM, one for exp and farming. Dynamis/HNM macro set is the only one where I actually macroed summoning an avatar, only because with so many people around, it takes a long time to scroll through a spell list.

In general, there are a lot of abilities that avatars get that you won't use very often, because they're just not very useful. (I'm looking at you, Crimson Roar.) I checked out that summoner.info page's macros, and I think that they give you a lot of wasted space.

For macros, I prefer keeping things simple as possible. If you're going to macro summoning a few avatars, make them the ones you're going to use the most. I'm not sure what your level is...so I can't really guess which ones you'll be using often.

They have assault macroed into summoning an avatar... Except you might not always want to use assault on something right away, so I think that a seperate "/pet assault <t>" (or <stnpc>) macro would work better. Of course, you'll need a release macro and a retreat macro.

So three macros on /pet commands already, and maybe four for avatars (if you don't like summoning from the spell list). Now you can just pick out which blood pacts you'll use often... I'll assume level 60, since that brings IV spells for avatars into play too.

        One macro: Buffing blood pacts.
        /pet "Aerial Armor" <me>
        /pet "Earthen Ward" <me>
        /pet "Ecliptic Howl" <me>
/pet "Whatever That Diablos Phalanx Move is Called" <me>

        Another macro: Magic blood pacts
/pet "Blizzard IV" <t> (or <bt> if you're afraid of mistargets)
        /pet "Thunder IV" <t> / <bt>
etc. All the IV spells...or just the ones you're going to be using in that party if you get tired of the spam when you hit the macro. You can throw diablos' magic attack/defense bonus move in here too.

        Another macro: Physical blood pacts
        /pet "Double Slap" <t> / <bt> / <stnpc>
Other physical attacks you might use for a skill chain.

Then toss in a light staff adding macro and a macro that swaps in hMP gear for resting...you've got yourself a SMN macro set with some spare spots for things like barfira and the like.

For moves that you don't use often, you can just use CTRL+B to open the pet menu while your avatar is out. I use that for astral flows, since I don't use them often enough to warrant taking up a macro space, and same with things like "Frost Armor" or "Rolling Thunder".

Of course, this is just a guideline for how I set up my macros to save space. Use whatever you feel is best for you, even if it takes up 10 macro sets. So long as you're able to do your job within a reasonable amount of time, nobody will care if you use every macro set the game gives you, or if you don't use a single macro at all.

You switch by pressing Alt+Shift -or- Ctrl+Shift and the number corresponding to the macro pallette you desire.

In other words, if you are on Macro Palette 1, using Ctrl commands, and Fenrir is on Macro Pallette 6, Alt Commands, you would hold Alt+Shift and press 6.

          It's fun.

dont even listen to what PP has to say. since i havent seen them give 1 useful answer. truth is i have 3 differnt forms of ninja macro pallets, an 2 differnt bst macro pallets. ninjas pallet is based on what aspect i need to play as. EMINITY pallet, EVA pallet, an DEF pallet. my bsts pallets are based on the sub i use. one focus's on /nin abilities, an the other is for /whm abilities.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

              harsh...
I actually didn't know about the alt+shift and ctr+shift stuff... but I use a gamepad so it becomes a little less convenient. I use the keyboard only for conversation.

Is there a way to write a macro to shift macro palletes? That way I could have a main pallete that has all my summons on it, and have it summon, then shift to the macro pallete pertaining to that summon.

Hey Lil Ninja, have you done a search for all posts made by me and read them for usefulness? Or are you basing your accusation on something I said to you personally?

Because I've helped quite a few people out. And last time I checked, he wasn't asking about your NIN and BST macros. He was asking about SMN macros, which, unless I'm mistaken in my "uselessness", don't take up NEAR as much room as ANY Mage macros.

When I help someone, they know it. When I slam someone for laziness, they know it. Don't jump to ur guns just because you think you're better or smarter... cuz YOU didn't even offer any advice to help out on the topic...

aside from warning him of my "uselessness"...

and no, you can NOT make a Pallette switch Macro. Not by using what they give you in-game, anyway.

I set up my macro this way as well. :D It saves a lot of space when all BPs are pacted together in only 1 or 2 macro.

Macro for calling out avatars still need to be seperated tho.

here is the macro pallet i use on my summoner. if you hold R2 (or L2) and press up or down, you can scroll thrugh pallets. Ctrl/Alt works, too.

                        SUMMONER MACRO PALLET

first you need macros for summoning your avatars

                        CTRL-1:Carbuncle
                        /ma "Carbuncle" <me>
                        /ta <bt>
                        /wait 1
                        /pet "Assault" <stnpc>
                        /recast "Blood Pact"
                        /pet "Poison Nails" <st>

i like the <stnpc> way you target the mob while summoning, and there is next to zero chance of attacking the link by mistake. this setup can be used with any summon, and it works quite well. you macro one commonly used bp into the summon. if that's not the one you want to use right now, just cancel it

                        CTRL-2:Garuda
                        CTRL-3 Ifrit
                        CTRL-4 Shiva
                        CTRL-5 Titan
                        CTRL-6 Ramah
                        CTRL-7 Leviathan
CTRL-8 Diabolos (not diablos. that was ff-8 )
                        CTRL-9 Fenrir

                        CTRL-0 Ice Elemental
                        /ma "Ice Spirit" <me>
                        /ta <bt>
                        /wait 1
                        /pet assault <stnpc>

ice elemental? wtf??? lol i noticed that the casting time for the elementals is very short. it's a good idea to have one elemental macro'd so that, if you get aggro'd when you don't have a pet out, you can summon SOMETHING quickly, and sic it on the mob. once your pet has hate, run for the zone.

                        Alt-1 Dissmis
                        /recast "Blood Pact"
                        /pet "Release" <me>
                        /wait 32
                        /echo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Blood Pact Ready!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i'm not sure if <t> or <bt> is better with these. i guess it's up to you...

                        ALT-2 Damaging blood pact

                        /pet "Camisado" <bt>

of course, this doesn't include any new summons, but i'll probably just put them one pallet up from my normal summoner macro's.

there should be a more intuitive macro system honestly

they should, ingame, have something like..

                          "macro create"
                          select the macro slot
                          "title" -> insert name
then you select "equip macro" -> select equipment
or "insert wait delay" -> value
and "use spell" -> choose spell from list of avaliable spells -> choose type of target
and "use ability" -> choose from avaliable abilities -> choose type of target
and "use ws" -> choose from avaliable ws's -> choose type of target
                          "emote" -> choose emote
                          "party chat" -> insert text
                          ...

                          etc.

                            That's just macroing for dummies.

I'd rather have a more complex macro setup, especially to iunclude more than 6 lines, or at least be able to add /wait commands after an executed command.

                            Something like :

                            /ma "Cure" <t> <wait 5>
                            /recast Cure

I mean, It CAN be done, but ur not 'sposed to use 3rd pt programs, right? >.>
