Waking the Beast?

I heard that reward of the new quest "Waking the Beast" is a new "Blood pact". Is it true? Did anyone completed this quest yet? I suppose it is including 7 fights? Ifrit, Shiva, Lev, Ramuh, Garuda, Titan and Fenrir?

Waking the Beast rewards are avatar weapons...whether it adds a new bloodpact or not has not yet been confirmed/disproven.

As far as anyone's been able to tell over on the KI forums, the final reward for all your hard work is... A REALLY CRAPPY POLE.

This is why I never do brand new things right away when they're introduced... After over 3 years of playing this game, I've learned that sometimes SE introduces the lamest crap that they think is really cool.

Technically, crap is in the eye of the beholder. I have the staff, and it's not something I'd just toss out of hand. It does have benefits:

1. As long as anyone in your alliance has carbuncle out, Carbuncle's Pole has a light dmg proc of roughly 3 x Apollo's staff. The proc rate also seems higher than normal.

2. You gain TP at roughly the same rate as someone using a Martial Staff, making this one of the best dmg poles SMN can use. This also sets you up for multiple Spirit Takers.

Of course, in order to use this stuff solo you'd need Carby Mitts, Penance Robe, Evoker's Ring, and possibly some help from a Conjurer's Ring macro. So it's probably not a good idea to use it for getting that IT mob down into a bite size exp dish. On the other hand, if you're farming coffer keys for the linkshell (like a lot of us get roped into at later levels), this thing isn't half bad.

We're summoners, we carry around a lot of things that are only useful in certain situations. Look at those elemental staves you lug around, for instance. In terms of sheer wastes of space, Ice/Aquillo's is way worse than this thing, because Shiva can't hit the broad-side of a freakin' barn.

Heh, true, but at least I use my aquilo's to land paralyze on my RDM too ^^
