  • Nightmare Resist?

For those of you that have faught Diabolos, have you seen anybody resist Nightmare? I was able to resist it twice in a row when the Blm who's turn it was to stun decided not to. I was able to throw down a Spirit Surge and 3 penta thrusts before the rest of the party went down, and the other Blm was able to finish it off.

I just thought it was weird that I was able to resist the thing that completely destroys other parties, and I was able to do it twice. +10 Dark Resist on Healing Mail ftw... I guess...

Interesting observation, would be good to get another person who has seen this.

I must say I would be very surprised if it really was the +10 resistance that caused the resists. +10 resistance is very a small amount and it is unlikely that magic so strong in Darkness (he is a prime avatar) would be nulified by just +10 resistance.

Im not saying it wasnt the +10 but if it is, its a bug that they will probably fix very quickly, so if anyone else has seen this let us know, we can all stock up on Darkness resist equipment and nail it before they patch it.

You'd be surprised actually what you can resist with just simply +3 to an element and how big a difference it can make. The benefit of course does diminish the higher the number you go so from 40 vs. 50 the difference is little just the same as 75-90 are similar as well.

With Light and Dark effect items you can see these resists very easily, the other 6 elements seem to have more to them though. Still haven't really figured it out but I use to have it were I could fully resist any poisons (Including ones I drank). The use of +element items I feel is a field that still needs a lot of desperate needed experimenting.

Cheezy Test Result (I am nerdier than 96% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!)

The reason I am surprised is that I usually do Fenrir with 50+ Darkness resistance in equipment. However I have also been with with 0 Darkness resistance and his 2 hour did exactly the same damage. Maybe I am unlucky but if 50+ never makes any difference on Fenrir I am expecting the same with Diablos.

What day did you go? Maybe you went on Lightsday, and the Dark+10 really helped out. But that does seem odd. Or did you just evade it, not resist it? I'd be inclined to say it's possible to evade 2 of them, but resist 2 seems pretty hard.

Or maybe your just crazy wicked lucky! lol Luck+10 FTW!!

It was on Iceday I think. The first Sleepga 2 that he did put me to sleep, but something woke me up, and it seemed like for the rest of the battle the Pld, Brd, and tard Blm never regain conciousness. The Whm tried to throw out a few Curagas, and the Paladin never had a chance to use Invincible. Both times he did it I was scrambling to get my Jumps off, get my TP, and do my WSs.
