Does the SMN quest take forever?

I was thinkin bout being a SMN but the I read about the quest, about how you have to go everywhere with that stupic crystal... Is it worth it lol.

It's easy.

The only hard one to get to is ice. And even that, with a little help, or just well planned out maps isn't hard.

Ok, starting to get the sense that you are not even bothering to research our sites previous posts. There is a search button in the upper right, you will likely find much of the information you are seeking if you using it.

30 posts in less then 24 hrs all questions, maybe half of which could of been found in 5 min. using the search feature. That's kind of getting out of hand.

EDIT:

But yes, like Kuu said the quest isn't that bad. Silent Oil and Prysm Powder for like 1 zone should help you cover all the areas you need to go to. The longer part is actually getting the ruby to drop from the monsters.

If he thinks that just doing the quest is troublesome then there's no way he'll be bothered to get the avatars, or possibly even level up for that matter.

Yeah, I thought this quest was really annoying. I tried for the longest time to just get the ruby. And then one day when I wasn't trying, it dropped. lol

From there I just roamed around with it in my inventory for about 3 weeks. I could have just gone and waited for the weather effects and finished the quest in a day or two. But I wasn't in a hurry. I always said I'd never level SMN unless I had the avatars. Lv.50 RDM. Once I'm Lv.65 I'm going to get my avatars.

uhhhh the ruby took me like 10 min i have liike 4 level 70 thf friends i just got them to go to bumuda penisula and kill all the leeches and it droped very quickly i just had fun playing with the leeches with bind and then banishga2 made it alot funner than just resting the whole time and then the geting the elements took me 3 whole days fire i found was in the mountains in windust and then i got ice from i think it was balatil grounds and i got earth from la thein and thunder from dem i forgot the place name and then i got wind from mea area it was fire that took so long i heard ppl did this quest for a week and still waiting to get ice and fire bad ehh im glad it only took me 3 days and i got gurada titan shiva and ifrit now they where the harder part and the more expensive part too

The quest isn't that hard. The hard part is getting avatars by either mini battles with just carbuncle against primes or fight in 65+ party for regular primes and 71+ for Fenrir prime (lvl 85 enemy).

Summoner has to be the only job right now in game that you never stop questing for while playing. You need to do alot of work to function as summoner.

If you don't like to work alot for something SMN will be very hard to get into in the game. But if you like challenges this is the job for you.

Finding a Carbuncle's Ruby is definitely the hardest part of this quest. I remember my long hours killing hoards and hoards of leeches before I finally got the drop.

You had four high level thieves helping you. With all that Treasure Hunter on your side, of course it was probably going to drop quickly. Try looking for one solo...see how "easy" it is then.

Summoner's a fun job.
I lucked out on the ruby...
I was killing the leech NMs for the NIN flag, and they dropped the ruby.
No one else wanted it, so I ended up killing two birds with one stone.

You had four high level thieves helping you. With all that Treasure Hunter on your side, of course it was probably going to drop quickly. Try looking for one solo...see how "easy" it is then.

Not quite that high level and not quite as hard either.

I do understand though, that it's harder when that newbies have don't know as much tricks and have a drive to get adv jobs right as they get to lvl 30.

You don't need a lvl 75 chars to help you, even 40s and 50s are easy enough to kill them till drop. Once having 2 thfs lvl 45 (treasure hunter 2) dropped a ruby in 15 minutes. It's not really a high level in the greater scheme of things

Leveling to lvl 40 and/or having thf subs usually drops it after an hour or less solo.

If you insist on trying for it lvl30, then, yes it would be harder, and since you probably stil learning much of the game, even harder still.

The easiest way solo the ruby I usually see, is level bst to 15 and sub it. And just charm easy prey stuff to help you fight. You'll get some xp too and maybe gil
