Got a question about how you obtain Fenrir. Do you need to obtain the other avatars first or can you just save their whispers and use those to get Fenrir, and then come back and get your other avatars later?

You don't need a pact with any other avatars to get the moon bauble. All you need is the whispers from the other 6 elemental avatars. Technically, this means you could be a SMN with only Carbuncle and Fenrir.

If you want the complete set of SMN-specific rewards, of course, you need:

Shiva, Leviathan, Ifrit, Garuda, Ramuh, Titan: 3 times each
Fenrir: 2 times

Once each for the pact to summon each avatar
Once for each of the elemental avatars to get the moon bauble to battle Fenrir.
Once for every avatar to get the special items to complete the quest for the Evoker's Ring.

I was wondering what lvl it takes to get Fenrir, I heard it was 75 but I was wondering if that is just the lvl the party should be or if you have to be 75 to attain Fenrir.

Is it possible to get fenrir at a lower lvl with a powerful party backing you?

A lvl 60smn got fenrir with us. It's just recommended probably just for melees. Mages are fine since we sort of have buffs to protect us <.<

You can do fenrir with a very skilled party at around 70 or so... it's tricky, but doable, Most people with Fenrir are leveling SMN as a second/third/etc job, so used a 75 job to get it. The hard part with Fenrir is finding a rdm/drk willing to die, and enough DD to pwn him.

My winning strat was rdm/drk 2hr stun for 30sec, then pld cover+invic, while everyone else was going crazy to do damage, I saved my 2hr for if I reraised, so I'd have MP... but I went as BLM.

Thanks, I plan on lvling bard and whitemage together, as high as i need to to get smn.

Both are pretty popular jobs, so I should have endless parties from 30 to 60+ on one job or the other, Hopefully my Whm or Brd will be able to coax some players into doing the dirty for me. I've known some players that have lvl 75 for a wile now since I used to play when the game came out, so it shouldn't be overly hard.

Thanks for your inputs, oh and one more thing, is a Smn 2 hr good in Avatar battles? I was thinking maybe a few High lvl Smn could spam out on Fenrir or something?

I did Fenrir as a lvl 75 PLD and kited him, we had 75 BRD, 75 BLM, 75 RDM, 74 THF, 75 WHM.

First try we died, Fenrir's 2hr caught me with already low HP and I didn't have DRK Carol on so I died. It was all of our's first time fighting him so I wasn't upset. Second time it was smooth. I had Dark Carol on at all times. His 2 hr only hit for 600 tops. We didn't even fight on Lightsday.

Today i went to fight Fenrir and WON!!!! let me tell you something else....my highest job atm is a Lvl36 WHM!!! yes i repeat a lvl36 WHM!!! My linkshell helped me and another linkshell member obtain the whispers to get the moon bauble...those fights took only 3 people to beat lvl75 MNK/NIN lvl74 PLD/WAR and a lvl70 BLM/WHM and us two leeches...anyways...onto Fenrir...i had to down a total of 500k to find the right people to help me do this... here was the party set up...

i cant give you guys a strategy cuz i was kinda standing REALLY far back the whole battle...but im just here to tell you...you can obtain Fenrir at a really low level with the right help and a bit of pocket change(500k) i however did my part in the battle as well... after 2-hour i used my Benediction... battle took 7mins 13secs goodluck

Yes, you can beat Fenrir with NIN/WAR + MNK/NIN + BRD/WHM + RDM/WHM... though you'll be hating life (or rather, 75% xp loss when you die) if you lose.

I'm not sure where the comment about PLD/WAR and BLM/WHM comes in... you can only take 6 people into the arena. PLD/WAR is (very nearly) a bystander in Fenrir fights. It's impossible to straight tank him without shadows, he hits way too hard, way too fast.

Hiya

What I did was I got the Mini Avatars(lv 20) for the Summons then did the Primes for the Whisper. Then ya can keep Whisper for Fenrir's Bauble and ya get the Primes too hehe

We had no PLD for the Fenrir fight... The part i mentioned the PLD/WAR and MNK/NIN and BLM/WHM was when i talked about getting the whispers with me being one leech and my friend being the other (5 people total...but only 3 actually fought).................

for the Fenrir part i wasnt asking if it was possible to do it with that set up...Im TELLING you i DID IT with that set up...
Battle went extremely well...no Deaths or anything...NIN was tanking the whole time...MNK would pull hate once in a while but the nin would just voke it back...
Im just saying That, the party set up used in my fenrir fight is EXTREMELY efficient and just trying to help out those who havent done the fight yet and lookin for some guidence~ hope this clears some things up

I did him @ lvl 60 with a whole summoners part.
It was kinda 2x 73+ and 3x 70 Smn
Thoose guys slaughtered Fenrir with no sweat, but getting 5 Smn was kinda tricky on Remora.

One Ninja tank would have been raped if he was the only one tanking, and one Mnk/Nin as well as a Bst/Whm would not have been enough damage to take him down in a reasonable amount of time. Ninjas get raped all the time by Crescent Fang, I think it is, since it'll take down three shadows.
