Hey guys..I just fought first time against Shiva ookay can u guys tell me what went wrong?

Before the Fork thingy I get a few High Level Buffs from a friend. Then I went in used Boiled Crab traded the fork and then startet battle. Well now I use a Yagudo drink and go half way over the Bridge summon carby....run a little bit more use AF and then go to shiva and use SL..210 Damage..then I Run back to the zone point (as far as i could didnt make it ALL the way) used an hi-ether and Carby dies I try to use an Hi-Ether and run up to the Crystal since Shiva followed..I resummon carby (while shiva hits me) and while Carby is doing 2. SL I die and her HP wasnt so high anyway (1 SL plus a few melee hits would of been enough)..great im all pissed now what went wrng..man my heart was beating so hard..i never hard such an bad heatbeat in my entire life :S (even though its just a game :S). I still have a good feelign about this i think my problem was Hi-Ether..it takes sooooooooo long to use it next time i will try Ethers (friend also told me to get it) and now since i know hwo these battles run it shouldnt be so hard ill try garuda next time.

so i also have SMN skill 37 even though a high level summoner friend (73 or 71 not sure) said to bring it to 50 but even though it was 37 i did pretty well..carby took off 210 that was nice..now can someone tell me what i need to work on and what was kinda of good?

hows it going with your avatar fighting?
You know as soon as cabby die I sugest resummon him ASAP don't care about the hi-ethers in that case surviving is more important.

Anothing thing is that you can use mulsums instead of hi-ethers which are must faster, you will need to use 2xmulsums instead of one hi-ether but that should be ok, they don't draw that much hate either.

my prb is that ethers cost 4k right now on ragnarok and im short of money :S thats why im also leveling my SMN on

your avatar will be free and juice will be adding 2mp every 3 seconds. so you shouldnt even need any medicine to get 40 mp in 60 seconds, or maybe 1 mulsum at most

also you can blood pact 5 seconds sooner if you retreat/attack, and 5 more seconds sooner if you type the command or use a macro (instead of the menu)

you should never macro your summons 2 hour (macroing Astral Flow, which is the SummonERS 2 hour, is fine, but macroing your SUMMON's 2 hour is bad bad, IE Diamond Dust) because the summoner class is obviously still bugged, years later, if you macro like /pet "Searing Light" <t> or /pet "Diamond Dust" <t> you will get unsatisfied results. Sometimes the attack won't work, or your avatar will stay frozen in the animation for using an ability and their 2 hour wont go off wasting your blood pact timer, causing you to wait 1 minute for it to recharge again .

To help battle this, you should use your menu to activate your summons 2 hour, and not a macro.

From my personal experience, and Im sure others, the seconds you will lose to go through the menus to use a 2 hour blood pact, it is indeed worth it.

i would never use a macro in a normal situation, ut in a difficult bcnm (soloing Shooting Fish, soloinglevel 20 avatars, or doing some of the time limited COP BCNM's) the extra few seconds saved by using a macro make the difference between winning and losing

Sorry I bumped this, but I tried doing the Shiva Avatar quest today. It was actually my first battle with an avatar.

Well, we head on out to the Fei'Yin Ruins with myself (60 Rng/29 Nin), a 72 War/36 Nin Tank, two 75 Blm/Whm Tarus, a lvl 50 Whm (she was the one wanting the avatar), and a lvl 62 Bst/Whm.

When we were close to the crystal, myself and one of the Blm got aggroe'd by a bunch of bats. I was too naive at the time to think about casting Sneak due to my inexperience at the place. Ended up getting the Whm, myself, one of the Blm, and the Bst killed (although she put up a real decent fight until the end). We had to wait for about 20-30 minutes for a lvl 75 Whm to show up with Raise 3 from one of the Blm's Linkshell, which wasn't a problem since we had to wait about an hour until Iceday had passed for us to fight Shiva anyway.

Well, after healing up and finally getting Sneak on, we ran to the crystal, prepped ourself up with some buffs (Protect II and Shell II, since we didn't have a high lvl Whm with us), and proceeded to jump into battle.

As soon as we got there, myself and the War stayed at the bottom with the mages on the upper tier, and the Bst called a monster to do the pulling of Shiva. As soon as she was brought down, I proceeded to attack it with numerous arrows in order to weaken it a bit before it arrived. Once it did, I actually was dealing out some good damage (used a Mithra Chiefkabob in order to help out the War and Bst with melee damage) and sacked in some good 100+ arrows into Shiva's side. When Shiva started to go uphill, the War was quick on the Provoke. However, after a while, that's when it started to go downhill.

Due to numerous high-lvl nukes and spamming of curing spells, Shiva started to trail up to the mages. I got Shiva with a Shadowbind amazingly enough, but it wasn't long before it shook that thing off. It striked the Whm a few times before she hit the dirt. I proceeded to use the Sharpshot + Barrage mix and struck it with arrows to pull it back down to my level. The Warrior called Provoke and began striking it. However, with a few quick casts and the lateness on the curing spells after Raising the Whm, the War fell. I continued throwing arrows in its direction, even being able to call Sharpshot + Barrage a second time due to the length of the battle. I actually had to run up to where the mages were because Shiva had chased them towards her spawn point. Using my 2hr (Eagle Eye Shot), I knocked about 200-300 hp off, bringing it down to about a third of hp. This was for naught...

Shiva unleashed her 2hr, Diamond Dust, which took a big chunk of 1k+ hp off of me and a couple others, completely wiping out me, the Bst, and one of the Blm. The other Blm, the last one standing, continually casted Blink, Stoneskin, and threw in a couple of nukes, staying up for about 10-20 more seconds before also taking some nasty hits and falling to the ground.

And that, my friends, is what I call Pwnage. Let's just say, we did a decent job, but we didn't have a real strategy planned out. We feel like we could've done a much better job with the proper precautions (namely, a much higher lvl Whm with perhaps Raise 3 as a party member?). This is just a warning to you guys; never come unprepared.

yeah, even with the lvl 20 battles, if you don't come prepared (say with a emergency hi potion, or ether, extra yagudo drink etc.....)

you may be destroyed and disappointed.

Heh, well, I wasn't that disappointed, honestly. I mean, I realize I can always go and level my character and come back and try again with better results and a better team. It might take several months, but I'm in this game for the long haul, as you can tell from my character levels.

But hey, at least, earlier in the day, we were able to get that Whm (the one who wanted Shiva as a summon) in the party Garuda. That made me happy for her, and it also didn't break her spirit (much).

But, I might be looking into another job for my character. I'm getting tired of Ranger, and I'm looking into the better melee classes for my character, perhaps one that's less expensive. I spent almost 100k just prepping for the fights that day, and ended up wasting them when they mattered the most.

all i can say is i have tried everything fighting on shiva weak day on carby strong day yag drinks hi ethers everything nuthing works and the 2h SL trick never works XD plz send me a PM with any help plz ill do anything to try and beat shiva (btw im 0/17 on shiva)
