  • Carbuncle's Mitts

Once I level my WHM I plan to become a summoner instantly, is there any way i can get the Carbuncle's Mitts as a level 30 WHM? What level do you recomend I be?

getting the pop item is impossible for a lvl 30 whm. maybe not impossible but certainly beyond hard.

heard the fight wasn't exactly easy for a pt of lvl 75s either.

The fight is pretty easy with 4-5 lvl 70+. Hard part is getting there without causing trains.

If you had some really nice high levels helping, you could have someone else get the offering, and then sit at the zone while they go fight the NM I guess, lol >.>

You can't =/ offering you must fetch from the ???s yourself, and you have to put in the offering to pop the NM yourself as well.

Whoever spawns the NM gets to eat a searing light from its carbuncle right off the bat too ^^

The person who gets the offering has to spawn it, yes. But they do not get the mitts by default. The mitts are dropped by the NM and can be lotted. A THF in our LS accidentally got an offering and we took a WHM who was leveling SMN from our LS and used the THF's offering to get the WHM mitts.

You can do the fight with 70+ thf or nin, and a support job like brd or whm. Very easy with nin/whm/brd/blm. My group went like that to do the fight three times, we also brought a 55 summoner with us. The summoner died to searing light right when the mob spawned.

We fought the nm three times and only the third one did damage to us with searing light. We assume the third one just spawned as a higher level than the first two. It still was easy since we had three people to curaga. Just watch out for the grudge move it uses... I think it's something like "Rancor's Grudge" and I believe instead of it working like the normal grudge attack, it combines the entire party's grudge and uses it on one person, so it's not pretty if it hits. The ZM4 Tonberry's in the BCNM fight have this attack, too.

                    I can't seem to pick a job.

Everyone's Rancor is the name of the Tonberry NM move. It does I think ten times the damage of Everyone's Grudge.

I went as Nin/whm, putting up stoneskin and utsusemi Ni, I got hammered badly after popping 2 doors open to check for the offering on my 1st try.
I lost all 4 shadows, was poisoned, bio II'd and had lovely spells such as Fire III, Waterga III, and Flare thrown at me while I ran for the Den of Rancor zone. Anyone under 50 will definitely be a 1-hit wonder against these guys, they were mostly 'Tough' to be at 64.
Naturally the offering was not in the first 4 easily accessable rooms, so I had to make my way through the bronze marberry room (2 doors to open, pray the tonberries are facing away when you open it).
My initial attempt to get through the marberry room almost got me killed, because I was constantly hammered with sleepII by the ensuing train while I tried to run, but the poisongaII they landed on me kept waking me up so I could turn the next corner or get out of range of the incoming damage spells.

To check the rooms, I recommend wedging yourself into a corner, off to the side of the doorway so you can still open the door without aggroing the tonberrys on the other side helps, then hit tab to see if its in the room so you only have to worry about the hallway tonberries.

I finally found it in the last room, the tonberry inside was facing the wall and I was able to snag it before he noticed^^
