Opinions for Path to Sum

I'm currently not able to play but upon my return I plan to take a different path than in my first character... Since I'll be a no sj rank 1 noob again I'm going to start my char off as RDM, get sj, switch to WHM, to get advanced jobs... after this my path is a bit more unclear... I had thought to play BRD to get RANK and lvls quickly... but I'm unsure if I want BRD to be my job forever as I figure if I got into an HMN LS or something they would want me to play BRD since they are a bit rare... with the advent of the lvl 20 SMN avatar quests... I could lvl SMN to 20 and do quests and then just lvl SMN... Or I could get BRD to a high enough lvl to do Original Avatar quests so that way I'll have Fen as well...

So just looking for a few opinions as to what route to go...

Probably sort of depends on your connections if you still have any and or how quickly you can make friends who are at higher levels.

Sortest/best path to SMN would probably be:

Lv 18 BLM -> (Warp/SJ)
Lv 34 WHM -> (Teleport)
SMN

- This path will get you to the point where you can take on the level 20 avatar quests, however you may not have enough gil to be able to keep up with the equipment/consumable needs for being able to successfully beat the avatars.


Alternate path but way longer (would not recommend unless you're taru):
Lv 34 WHM (Skipping SJ)
Lv 70+ BRD
SMN

- This path will require about one month's time to get high enough for the avatars. Will take 2-3 months before you will be able to get in a PT where you can get Fenrir.
- I took this path because I wanted to get to higher levels, Lv30 WHM/1 MNK anyone? However I had previous experience as a WHM and also I was a taru which translate to a very good WHM. Taru mp boost made me equal to a WHM of any other race. Previous skill made me better than at least 25% of the WHMs out there (ie. knew how to work worth regen, when to rest for extra MP, when to cure and what cures to use depending on fight progress.)
- You could also level BLM first then switch to WHM then to BRD so you have more MP overall but it's a decent sized detour going with BLM. However you could get away doing this since most PTs at low level lack any type of consistent person who will cure. (ie. RDMs who cure are rare.)

If you really want to focus on SMN those are the basic subjobs that you will want w/o having to deal with anything else.

I think I'm going to go BRD first as I believe getting Rank first will help me PT wise when I turn around and lvl SMN I also believe it will give me time to earn gil to finance Elemental Staves, and possiblely pick up Cara Mitts
