I'm having a hard time finding information on this in english, so here's what I know so far from a JP friend of mine.
There are two items required: a rare/ex key, and a rare/ex offering item. The key is used to open the door to the hidden room where the nm spawns. Once you use the key it is gone, so you must have everyone ready to go in the room when the door opens. The offering is used to actually spawn the nm, so basically everyone that wants the mitts needs to have gotten the offering.
To get the key, you must kill Slashers (tonberries) in Temple of Uggalepih or Den of Rancor. I went with a party today and couldn't find any slashers in the temple, but we did find some in Den of Rancor. To get to them in Den of Rancor very easily, goto Yhoator Jungle and goto J-7 (labeled Bloodlet Spring on the map). There's a tunnel there that leads directly to Den of Rancor and has Slashers not too far inside. You need sneak and invisible to get to them because the mandragoras in there callled Pucks will aggro. The lizards do not aggro. We killed five slashers there, first one dropped a coffer key, fifth one dropped the key we needed for the mitts. I don't remember what the key is called, but the direct Japanese translation is "High Monk Key". The key description does have "high priest" in it, however.
To get the offering, there are random ???'s that spawn around the temple. From what I understand, you find one and use it and you will get the offering. I have no idea where the ???'s are located. Once you get the offering, you go into the secret room and there will be a ???. Trade the offering to the ??? and the nm will spawn.
Drop rate for carbuncle mitts is supposedly 100%.
I think the hidden room might be on the first map on the southwest section. There's a part where the path makes a square around a block and on one side of the wall there's a hidden door you can select (it has no description, like the door to Norg) that says it's firmly shut when you try to open it.
If anyone has any info on the locations of the ???'s to get the offering or specifically where the hidden room is, please add to this.
