  • BCNM 40 with SMN or /SMN

Just wondered about this yesterday while PTed with a SMN. I forgot all about the fact that Carbuncle can pull 1 mob from a linking type, until the SMN suggested he pull since the mobs were grouped up. Now...just wondering if any SMNers or subbed SMNers have done BCNM 40 in Giddeus. Using Carbuncle to pull the Mandas one by one, without having all of them aggro your PT. I've never seen anyone post that they tried this...but meh...if it works...cool..if not...just have to spend more gils to get it done

    How it really works:
If Carbuncle attacks a linking mob, they will link and Carbuncle will be attacked by others. However, if carbuncle beats the first mob and you unsummon him, the remaining linked mobs will not have any hate for you, and will continue their business.

When it comes to linking mobs, the Avatar is the only one that gets the hate, not the summoner. So, when the Avatar is gone (whether it be defeated or released), as long as the first mob it attacked is dead theres no further probs.

Also im under the impression that in BCNM 40, to have an Avatar in "Assault" range, you are also well withing range of the mob's aggro. So it doesnt work according to people i have heard tested it.

    Get to the gone!

Would it not work if SMN had a sneak on while unleashing Carby?

I think they aggro by sight, and invisible wears off with summoning and pet commands.

A Beastmaster tried doing it, thinking he could solo BCNM40 Giddeus with it. Instead, he got raped. :p

you can use attack without aggroing stuff. BC40 stuff is coded differently so they link pretty much no matter what, just like dynamis mobs are coded different (at least to some extent not sure how much yet)
Still trying to play way too much...

Well, im a Summoner, and i cant order an Avatar to attack a linking mob without it linking. They both (or more) gang up on the Avatar. Tested it loads of times in many areas.

However, only one mob will come attack you instead of all the mobs. The question was, was if this still applies in BCNM40. So far (only one test I've seen) the results have failed.

And if you want to see the video of the BST soloing BCNM40, you can do a search for it. He posted it in both the Beastmaster and Video forums.
