  • Soloing against Titan help!!!

My first battle against Titan, which is my first summon avatar quest which was horribly ended in 2 minutes. I took Yaguda drink, summon carbuncle , assualt him and the moment I cast Astral Flow, I was taken huge damage from Stone II. My carby was killed, and I couldn't recast carbuncle because he was on my butt everyhere I go!! I read other forums on how to beat him, but it doesnt work with me. Any easy tactics to getting my first summon ?? My summoner skill is at 60 .

Do nots know of any easy way.

Their seem to be two main ways people beatin Solo Battles, 1. Fast and Furious and 2. Wear them Down.

    1. Fast and Furious.
    a. Get all prebattle spells on, go to Protocrystal and enter.
    b. Use +def food if any, Summon Carbuncle, use mp regen juice, Assault Prime Avatar.
    c. When Carbuncle haves their attention, start 2hr, use Searing Light.
d Soon as MP drops, retreat far enough away to be ables to resummon safely.
    e. When Carbuncle vanishes, resummon and Assault again.
    f. When you haves 40mp, use Searing Light again.
Repeat steps d. through f. til you win. Make sure to keep mp regen goin so you can use Searing Light all 3 times.

    2. Wear them Down.
    a. same as above.
    b. same as above.
    c. Let Carbuncle keep fightin til it gets KO.
    d. Resummon Carbuncle, Assault Prime avatar, and let it fight til it KO.
    e. Repeat d. til abouts 10minutes into battle.
    f. Resummon Carbuncle, start 2hr and use Searing Light.
    g. Soon as MP drops, retreat far enough away to be ables to resummon safely.
    h. When Carbuncle vanishes, resummon and Assault again.
    i. When Carbuncle vanishes, resummon and Assault again.
    j. When you haves 40mp, use Searing Light again.
Repeat steps g. through j. til you win. Make sure to keep mp regen goin so you can use Searing Light all 3 times.

Wear down take more time and Medicines (so more expensive way). Fast and Furious can be more excitin/harder on nerves.

    - Make sure to have all game messages on because you could miss Avatars usin spells/abilities.
    - If you use Wear them Down, make sure to haves real world timer near you to keep track of elapsed battle time.
    - Before goin in, make sure 2hr ability is ready. Sounds silly, buts could be needless death if you do nots check this before you start.
    - Garuda can use Aerial Armor. So keep track of abilities she use or you will need to Wear her down some even if you use Fast and Furious method.

It is nots as easy as this makes it sound. Things could happen and end it. You could get lagged and start retreatin too late and die from Avatar 2hr. Could miss when mp regen wears out. Could be too close and gets killed before you resummon.

Me high reccomend to anyone that never try fightin mini avatars to try solo fights one time and nots use summoner 2hr ability. This will let you gets feel for battle and to find outs how much distance needed for resummon. Just keep tryin to wear them down til you outs of MP. You do nots lose any exp when you KO, so it perfect for practice sessions.

Thanks for your time for your help, when i cast shearing lights and run all the way back to resummon carbuncle, does Titan stay in that stop or start to run to the position I am by the crystal recasting carbuncle?

      Thanks :spin:

        [Short answer]

        Try it.

You will nots lose any xp and you will gain information and experience.

        [Long answer]

If you lose aggro, Titan will stay where him beat carbuncle and start regeneratin HP. If you fightin Garuda and lose aggro she WILL heal herself as she regeneratin HP.

Their seem to be 3 places where you can retreat to and summon carbuncle safely. On ramp near 'platform' for inner Protocrystal, sharp turn on ramp, and back edge of Avatars 'platform'.

What are some MP regen items and how much do they cost on average?

            Regen-Yagudo drinks.120 mp over 3 min.cost is around 1200-1800gil.Melon juice,90mp over 3 min .price is around 800-1000 gil.

One question, how far are you running from the avatar after you send in carcuncle?if your running all the way from the top crystal to the bottom crystal, you are going too far.The avatar WILL regen hp,go to the first bend and wait to recast.
i have all 6 avatars now,all solo lvl 20 fights, after trying the quick and nasty immediated astral flow style and getting owned,i let Carbuncle beat on the avatar, till they had lost around one quarter/one third of ther hp then drink yag drink, astral flow ,searing light x2.
Make sure you have hi potions to drink while carby is fighting, never let your hp go into the yellow.

Ok, so I just battled Garuda. (On Ice Day)

I went for the fast and furious method and I only took a Fish Mithkabob and a Yagudo Drink.

I was only able to get her down to half HP by using 2 shots of 2hr and only whittling away at her for one round after my 2hr ended. (She killed me and won of course. So now I'm 0/1. :/ )

So, I really don't recommend the Fast and Furious method on Garuda because she likes to spam that stupid aerial armor and make you miss.

              Goodbye everyone.

believe me, ive gone through all that frustration, but although you will still get some losses im sure the fast and furious method is the only way to go really, having tried both methods out pretty extensively.

The longer the fight lasts, the more chance you have of carbuncle being hit with really badly timed high damage attacks.
Make it fast, and youll use less food / medicines, and be taking much less of a risk.

                e.g.
                *john doe summons carbuncle*
*carbuncle hits prime avatar for x damage*
*prime avatar readies x special attack*
*carbuncle was defeated by prime avatar*
*john doe's resummon timer still has 26 seconds to go*
                *splat, game over*

That^ is what causes 90% of the defeats you will suffer, and every time you have to resummon there is a chance that this will happen. Idealy, if everything goes smooth, carbuncle will only die twice and the fight will end in just under 4 minutes.

                Get to the gone!
                Under the gun!

perhaps u could have tried reading posts in the summoner forum instead of posting in the rdm forum? they are the so-called experts?

We just don't have enough posts about how to do the level 20 avatar battles. We could definetely use more posts about these battles, I mean every other post just isn't enough. It's not like you could simply use the SEARCH feature on this site, and allakazham, and return literally HUNDREDS of these "how do I beat the 20 battles plz ^^" posts.

Nope, no need for research I say, just go ahead and spam every FFXI Summoner-related discussion boards on the internet with "how do I beat the level 20 avatar" questions that have been discussed HUNDREDS of times.
