this is kind of an awkward question,and i dont know if people already asked this but...can a summoner deal good damage with their avatars,i mean what are those avatars for then?

Avatars primarily exist (IE, are used for at this time) for their triggered abilities, and occasionally Astral Flow.

the most prominent uses are Blinkga, Hastega, group stoneskin, Ifrit's Battlecry, Springwater, and the group enthunder on occasion.

To tell you straight, there is just ONE avatar that could perhaps do decent damage through its effect on party members, and that one is Fenrir. He also melees so-so.

Summoners are NOT a damage job, and its likely they will never be. Its a support job which has interesting effects for parties, but as of yet, best you can do is augment the damage of your parties melees through hastega , battlecry or the stat-buffs of Fenrir.
