Ethics, Fenrir. Opnions?

First off, my target audience for this post are the Fenrir capable players only. I don't mean it rude, but I am looking for first person opinions and not hearsay/speculation and would like to avoid as much of that as possible. Thanks in advance for this.

I've played summoner a while now. Got up to 61, just recently passing my WHM's level of 60. I've found more and more parties would like me to have Fenrir (for the ever popular level54?55? ability, and the EVD/ACC down move, as well) and I would like to be able to have him for them, as well. I'm also finding many parties have no interest, at this level, for a Summoner lacking Fenrir. It makes sense too. (You see 3 warriors. One is subbing WHM, one is subbing THF, and another is subbing NIN. Which do you choose?)

However, the problem is to get Fenrir is that it seems that many people want the Summoners with the ultimate abilities, which require levelling, but to level many people want Fenrir's abilities..so..it's kind of a bad situation.

My question of ethics would be: Would it be unethical/poor taste/impossible for me to participate in a Fenrir battle to get his summon?
I have nice (not uber, but I have spent a length of time and good amounts of gil to keep my gear reasonably up to date including all the AF) gear, I've kept my skill reasonably up to date as well.

Summoners also really don't have any (non-Fenrir) abilities for party support after level 50 (up until 70) as well.

I don't mind supporting the party with ethers/potions/etc to get this if I will be that much of a weak link, either.

I've worked hard to get this far, and would like to be a member of a Fenrir killing party but don't want to earn disrespect for doing something dubious that would cause a large problem for the other players I ask for help.

So, please give me your input! (If I am really an impossible help for the fight, when will I not be? If I can be a working part of a Fenrir party, who should I bring [jobs, lvs, etc]?) Thank you in advance.

Sorry but unless you at least 70 you won't really be contributing to the battle. Only exception I could see at all is Whm, and even then I doubt you would get an invite with a whm less than 70 (Raise 3). As for any other mage job other than whm, no way you will contribute at all unless your 70+. Most of your magic/songs will be resisted if your not high enough to where Errant gear (lvl 72). And unlike other Prime battles, Fenrir needs the whole pt to contribute to the battle. So the answer is "No", you won't be able to tag along with the higher levels on this one unless your a whm and they don't mind losing a few thousand in XP...

I have aquired Fenrir, and from my observation/experience there is a slight chance you might make it. Probably better you know the players, dunno how people would respond to a shout. I think with the right config you still have 2 issues, you surviving its 2hr, and your mp as a lv60. You can solve the mp problem with a ton of pro-ethers (we didnt take) but the 2hr is the risk.

I don't have fenrir, but I can tell you that as a lvl 69 rdm, I /tell leaders of fenrir prime shouts every opportunity I can (doesn't hurt to try, right?), and have basically been told to fuck off every single time. The only way I see it possible would be if 5 lvl 70+ friends of yours went, and were willing to take the risk of having a gimp 6th member.

I'm not really trying to "gimp" it per se. Again, if I'm really just totally out there way underlevelled for it, that I can understand.

But if I'm a little bit below and I could probably go in there and serve some purpose in the fight to get the summon, then by all means I'd love to. I'm not trying to gimp it too much, really.
Just at my level as a summoner people expect Fenrir for a party, and I can't deliver that. Sure, I could level my WHM more, but I'm not interested in that. So it's a catch 22 in that..need Fenrir to level (without many pts shrugging you off), but never levels for Fenrir.

I took the long way to get the other primes, and worked hard for it, but I don't plan on levelling up WHM anymore just to get a skill for my Summoner, at this level. It just seems silly...

Hmmm You say you dont won't to level whm to get fenrir, but do you farm gil for good equipment?

Not everyone gets everything, although some people ( we ALL know who i'm talking about ), get everything for nothing ( if they possibly can hah! try getting fenrir and vermillions and all elemental staffs person i'm talking about ) . Some times your investment of time and effort is required.

I have a dark staff, but not a vermillion cloak. I don't have multi-million gil equip. I don't have level 30 gear or something either.
And err, what does gear have to do with it, anyhow? (Please, I understand the importance of more mp=more magic) I am willing to supply the ethers for the fight to substantiate for the mp difference between myself and someone 7 or 8 levels higher with super gear.

And no, I don't want to level WHM any further. I have 2 60+ chars now, and I want to play the one I enjoy more at the moment.

I was making the point that your probably willing to invest time ( unenjoyable time - spent farming ) to get good gear, you may well have to invest time getting your white mage up so you can get fenrir, unless you want to go 61-70 without fenrir just so you can be useful in the fenrir battle.

Ocean, suck it up and get to 70 with one or the other. At 53, I don't have any problems whatsoever getting PTs to level - because I make them. As long as you have the other avatars, you should be fine.

Why would I be jealous in any way deedlit? I'm not levelling summoner as a mainjob and I have all avatars except fenrir.

Deedlit, first off your attitude for posting isn't appreciated. Please don't hijack people's threads and convert them into flame forums that nobody wants to contribute to.

The difference between getting a 50-55 pt and a 60-65 pt is quite different, at least for my server. the "tank pool" happens to be about 5 people who have previous engagements during non-peak JPN time. I have been asked if I had Fenrir on multiple times and refused pt on behalf of my not having it. They want his level 55 move. Maybe you have a better populated server or maybe its because you're not at the point where Fenrir would have that available, or maybe even because there is bad luck on my part whenever I try finding a tank for my pts (and I do make 90% of my pts, thx for the suggestion), but yeah. Even so, I don't mind levelling, I'd just like to avoid those: tell: Fenrir? me: no, sorry. tell: ok nvm , situations.

Anyhow, I never complained about Fenrir's difficulty or wanted to leech him at a ridiculous level like some level 3x jobs leech the other primes and don't plan on it. Thats what this thead was for..to find out the level that it wouldn't be leeching, and apparently you misinterpreted that. Anyhow, np, thx for the info.
