The thing to remember when carbuncle pulling is that you *must* have sneak on. This trick only works on sound detect monster like crawler,funguar,quadav,crabs,undead and so on.

When you send carbuncle in, everything attacks him (this is the scary looking part, it looks like you will have a train), but when he dies, only the one you attacked comes since you have sneak on still.

You can get a huuge head start on running back to the PT this way, which is almost required if you pull liches since they will most likely try and cast on you before chasing you.

I have tried it on monsters that detect by sight, but it only works if you can get far enough ahead and break line of sight before carbuncle gets to his target (not worth the risk).

It does make breaking a full spawn of exorays or liches easy for limit1 quest but its far from flawless.
