To summon fenrir it costs double the mp cost of normal avatars, but his perpetual cost is the same as carbuncle's. Ex: Lv5 smn. Carb costs 5 to summon, Garuda 7, Fenrir 14. To keep carbuncle & fenrir out, its 1mp/3 sec, Garuda 3mp/3sec.

wrong. well at newbie levels yes, it starts out that way, but as you progress in levels, fenrir costs more than carby but less than other summons.

ATM carb is 3 for me

all the normal ones are 6

Fenrir is in my opinion the strongest summon, he gives summoners everything they've been lacking:Dispell, group buffs, debuffs, blind, paralyze, he hits the hardest, and costs less MP than other avatars to keep alive. Why should he be a free give away to any lvl 60?

If Fenrir is really that useful, than you need him even more than you need the other primes to contribute to a party, even at low levels. If a SMN without Garuda is inferior to one with Garuda at Lv 25, how much more is one without Fenrir inferior?

If Fenrir really "gives summoners everything they've been lacking", he should be a free giveaway to any level 1 summoner - because otherwise, summoners will continue to be the gimped curetank they've been since Zilart came out.

You don't have to be level 75 to obtain Raise, Warp, Sleep, Dispel, Refresh, Ballad, or other class-defining abilities. You don't have to do ANYTHING (other than level) to get Berserk, Trick Attack, Double Attack, Soul Eater, Meditate or Convert.

ANY ability that is important to ANY job (other than SMN) can be obtained by a character of about the same level as the ability's level requirement. There are a few "extra" spells like Phalanx that are hard to obtain at the level they are usable, which aren't needed to fulfill the job's usual role in a party.

Why are SMN the only job that need high-level help to get their essential LOW level abilities? Until elemental spirits are made useful, SMN job quest might as well have a level 60 requirement - or now, level 75.

I'm glad there are some challenging battles for high level players, other than genkai 5. But that doesn't excuse the current state of SMN being a job where twinking is mandatory.

Now, when you are LFP with summoner and don't have Fenrir you will get a lot of:

It'll be like a RDM without Dispel and Refresh, a WHM without Erase and Raise II, a Bard without Ballad II and Minuet IV, or a Melee without Accuracy equipment.

It really adds so much to the job to be able to cast Dispel and Accuracy up on your party. You can wave bye bye to Bard now by replacing him with a RDM and a SMN with Fenrir.

Leveling up SMN is now 70 levels of pain until you are high enough to fight Fenrir for 5 levels (or less) of fun.

If you want to be a good summoner, you better start leveling up a WHM, BLM, PLD, or blink tank up to 75 first. Unless, of course, you are some kind of mega uberleech. Like if all the shouters and beggars and lowlifes in Lower Jeuno were molded into one super ball of suck.
