Biggist Infro: I am on the GARUDA server.

I'm just wondering if anyone will help me leech the avatar fights.

I'm a level 22 WHM/9 RDM, and when i hit 30, I'm gonna attempt the leech the avatars.

It's hard to find bi-lingual people online, and I've noticed, their are quite a few on here.

    The lineup is as follows:

1 Level 70+ PLD (Main Tank)
    1Level 70+ BRD (Duh)
2 Level 70+ BLM (Damage Dealer)
    1 Level 70+ WHM (Cure)
1 Level 70+ RDM (Debuff, backup cure)
    And ofcourse, myself.

If at all possible, i'd really appreciate it, if anyone from the Garuda server could help me on each avatar battle if possible. I don't quite have the gil intake to offer money, however you would at least either get an avatar out of this, or 10K Gil.

Thanks a lot, hope these ppl will answer my call.

    Leeching Summons = bad...

You really oughtta get more experience with in game play before you take on the more complex responsibilities of a SMN...

Don't expect a lot of help from people until you are at least in the low-mid 50 in another job...

To those who may feel the need to Flame...please don't...

After being the main healer in 2 avatar kills today i'd really have to recommend just leveling up for these things.

Anyone can get tuning forks given time,
For leviathan half the battle was just getting to the cloister area. Invis dropped on the paladin in a bad spot and we had to kill a small tonberry train and that throat slash move they do nearly took out the warrior in 1hit from full hps( *hammered on CureIV hotkey*).
Again, in the paintbrush room to get to den of rancor on our way we had to clear yet more tonberrys.
Pugil aggro in the Den right before the cloister of tides and we nearly lost someone - i dont see how you could safely raise someone when things go bad on the way there.

We used war/drk/pld/rdm/brd/whm(me) to kill them.

lvl 55? You should have died on the summons WS move. What where the lvls of the other 5? High 60s or 70s?

bard and rdm were 66 and 62
I was in healing range to the melees and didnt take damage from the flow - the 70war did get 1shotted tho by leviathans tidal wave from full hps with barrier and carol on XD - level cant save you everytime. Stacked regenII on the PLD and kept everyone hasted while steady healing with cureIII and cureIV when avatars got critical hits off.
Burned alot of mp on haste to counter leviathan slowga - was a long fight because it did springwater like 20x when it was at 10percent health and our damage output took a hit with the warrior dying The DRK then went all out and ended up tanking at the end (with me constantly topping off his hps since he did berzerk/souleater/etc then guillotine) but pulled off enough damage for the win.

As for surviving the flow, heres where I was standing when tidal wave went off - pretty sure this is out of range of it but close enough to heal:
The bard had about the same hps as me (taru) and was right next to leviathan when the flow went off and took no damage either.

DJ, I'm afraid I don't understand your reasoning on having to get more exp with the game before I have the privilege of "taking on the more complex responsibilities" of the SMN job. Is my monthly fee somehow less important than, say, yours, so that I can't do whatever adv job I want, but you can? I pay to play this game, and I don't need anyone's permission (and neither does the starter of this thread) to play in whatever way, within the limits of the rules. And if I can get people to help me get these avatars (I already have three seperate groups of people who have generously offered to help), then how is it anyone elses business? I just think you were being a bit judgemental. Your opinion is ok, everyone has a right to their opinion, and to express it, but you did it in a pretty "my-way-or-the-highway" kinda way.

You have to know what you're doing before you barge into the cloister getting your whole PT killed <.<;;;. Believe me summon battles aren't all too fun with a low level, I helped a level 30 >< (I really really really needed the gil from the summon battle >< ><) and it wasn't a very pretty sight. The level 30 couldn't cure as much as me (CureIII) so I was forced to spam CureIV which got me a lot of hate and Ifrit came up and smacked me (after convert) and I died... luckily Raise3 after battle. Also in PTs not too sure how to explaint it though >.>;; but you need to know what your doing or else your MP is 0 and the tank dies <.<;; best I could do to explain.

It's not the great that are strong.

                      Yeah...it's an opinion...
                      yeah,...it's a widely accepted one...
yeah...I know what it's like to be in PTs with people who aren't quite in tune with some of the intricacies of the game try to utilize leeched summons...
yeah...I've died several times because of it ("Instead of healing and actually using my MP for good, I'll have my Ifrit go, miss a lot of attacks, cast a 14 damage Fire 2, and waste all our time")...
yeah...It's kind of a soft spot for me...
yeah...I still disagree with "leeching" summons...

I'm just trying to say that if you can't even be effective in the summon battles, then maybe you should re-evaluate your attempt to "prove your power/worthiness" to the avatar, rather than have 5 other people do it for you...

You want to do it anyway...
                      be my guest...
call this a moral objection, if you will...

I guess one of the priveleges of being Lv 75 is that you get to mix morals and gaming. Personally, I prefer to play a game to get away from things like that and have all the fun I can. :p

To each his own... but you know, you can get all the self-important morality you want out in the real world, and you don't even hafta pay $12.95 a month for it!

Irishwars, WHM died in your PT because she did not stay back or out of the Astro Flow range. This is probably the wrong place to ask for help. For the record, I also don't recommend trying until at least in the 50s. The Key words in getting a high level to help you is LS and/or good friends.

Having leveled SMNs to LV20, all I can say is Cure, Cure and more Cure. In an effcient PT, you do not have the time to take out your primes which is essetially a waste of MP. Also, increasing the skill level is very hard and boring. I can speak from experience that leveling up to SMN25 is no different whether you have the Primes or not. From 25 on, Garuda's Blinkga is a must have

Yes, very complex - I mean, casting Garuda for blink then curing your party can be quite....

...oh forget it, who are you kidding? With the time- and money-sink involved in getting the fame, getting to 30 and then actually doing one of the more annoying ADV-job quests for the job, and then getting through the fight if you can...that's as much exp as you need. It's pretty much widely known that until you get to level 70, your summons are good for blink and stoneskin, the occassional other ability, but because the class is bugged (or just plain sucks a$$) - that is all you do!

Also, going along with a level 75 is much more doable than bringing along a PT of 60's (unless you're of the same level). You actually contribute to the fight if you're a mid-level WHM, because they don't take as much damage that you need to spam cure 3 - hell, I only used Cure 2 cause of agro.

You people really need to stop criticising others about their wanting help. If you can find the help, go for it. I was lucky enough to be offered help - and everything was pretty much cake - I mean really, bring along silent oil and prism powder, and if you're with competant people, you shouldn't have a problem with getting to the cloister.

Why was this so easy for a 32 (at the time) WHM, but such a big deal for people in their 60s?
