Tomoh you never responded in my other topic so i'll post it here.
In my topic about i wanted to see which was better a BLM/SUM or a SUM/BLM, remember? anyway, you said, to get a good summoner, i have to first level my BLM up to 18 to get warp and a subjob. Then you said level WHM to lvl 30, subbing BLM. HOW? I thought that your subjob couldn't be more than half your mainjob! meaning i'd have to be lvl 36 b4 i could have it. Plz explain!

Your subjob is capped to half your level of your main job. So for example, you have a level 20 warrior and a level 10 monk job. If warrior is your main, monk stays at 10. If you make monk your main and warrior your sub, monk is at 10 and warrior is TEMPORARILY deleveled to 5. If you then go back to your warrior it will return to lvl 20.

Simply put, you can chop and change and still not lose levels permanently.

djjosh71, I can't be expected to answer especially since I never saw it. I look at many many many threads all over this forum. Also, you asked the question very late in the thread.

You have very long ways to go before you even start to worry about SMN job. My advice given was simply what I thought was the fastest path to SMN. As I stated before in BLM forum, raise ur current BLM to 18 to get (by purchase or Bastok quest) the very useful Warp spell, and activate the Sub job quest in Selbina or Mahula. I suggested changing your main job to WHM LV1 at this point and with BLM sub. WHM will enable you to level quickly to reach LV30 to activate the SMN advanced job.

Yes , LV32 can go fight primes as long as they have 5 other high levels helping them. LV32 should at least be a WHM or RDM so that they can at least heal. Prism Powder (Invis) and Silent Oil (Sneak) is a must since low levels will aggro everything in sight. This is even if you have the Sneak and Invis spells. Lastly, you need 5 other high levels to fight the primes for you. No one shouting for Summons PT in Jueno will accept any mages under 60.

Wrong. I duoed it (at level 32) with a SINGLE SOLO level 74 rdm/war. Whole team, pfft. I don't know if any other class combo would work (we got pwned when she was a 75 rdm/blm) but she easily took down ifrit, shiva and ramuh for me, with me just throwing the occasional cure 2.

She told me that a 75 rdm soloed garuda, but we couldn't get enough damage at the end to match her cures unfortunately.

Just trying to get rid of that "oh you need a full group to do this!" So not true - just need yourself (being a kickass healer) and a VERY skilled RDM/WAR.

Realistically, how many people looking for a prime here are going to find a "VERY skilled" LV74 RDM/WAR? I'm guessing not many

BTW, you can also do incredibly hard quests, missions, obtain items and many other things with a help of super high level and highly equipped friends.

I didn't say it to be rude - though with you being on Ragnarok, one would think with all you importers you should be able to find a skilled 74+ RDM/WAR

All I am saying is that you do not need a full party. With Garuda, tonight we will prolly bring another just for more melee damage towards the end (damn Garuda healing herself). Otherwise, with competant people, of the correct job combo, it is possible - I see rdm/war as the best because they can

a) heal themselves,
b) tank rather well - blink, stoneskin, and phalanx, and with war, they don't get hit much when they wear off
c) convert/refresh
d) en-whatever element that will help kill the prime quicker
e) bar-whatever element to decrease the taken damage even more.
f) can't beat their two-hour.

The bigger problem is them doing enough melee damage to kill it within the time limit.

hey deedlit thats pretty cool how u got all the summons that early, i have a few questions though

A) where do u go to get the quests for the summons?
B) how in the world did u manage to get all the fame for them
and C) how did u manage to get so much help from people to get the summons, i would imagine people turning their nose up at me for even asking.

A) In the appropriate town, you need to find the little taru standing with another person, who complains about being "hurt all over." If you have enough fame, this dialogue will continue, and he will offer you the appropriate fork.

B) Fame wasn't too bad, as I love doing quests. I did as many separate, non-repeatable quests as I could do in every town (sans Norg, still working on that) then I did some repeatables.
For Windurst, the repeatable was the bastore sardine quest, where you hand in bastore sardines for 70gil + fame reward to Tokaka outside the fishing guild in port.
For San/Bastok/Rabao - I did the La Theine cabbage turn in quest to the old man by the sheep, many, many times.

C) I had asked someone on the SD forums for help, who was on my server - who I had met in-game on my first day anyway. Roaming around Giddeus, I spotted her, and she gave me a nice avatar show Since then, we chatted on the forums and in game, and when I told her how much I thought summoners kicked a$$, she offered to help me with them, as she wanted to see if she could solo them. Personally, I wouldn't ask someone I didn't know out of the blue, or start shouting in Jeuno for help, but that's just me, and I was very fortunate to have help in this way.

In order to clear up any confusion, Katrinn just posted some info on the SD forums, and with credit going to her for this response, maybe this will clear up some things for you out there - this was in response to someone asking if she used elem equipment :

YES its possbile for 75 RDM/anyjob to solo avatara,but there is no grantee to win. also NOT NOT NOT NOT EVERY RDM love to chanlage like myself..cus for level 75 1 dead=3000 something exp lost.
also, not every job will be able to solo avatar..i guess probably only RDM ,adn NIN can solo those avatars.

personally i think RDM/NIN is the sbest combo for soloing.
at least from what i know, RDM/NIN can solo the wyvrm in Ifrit.

i like to try many possiblity for soloing,but seems like there are many rdm jsut prefer wearing red hat and sit back use refhresh only..and many of them believe that what rdm is.

infact, the most important thing to hire those mercenery is DONT LET THEM PROTEC YOU WHILE MOVING. cus there are many places that even 75 cant handle if you get argroed. befoer you actualy go. please at least know the timeing of useing sneak invis,and what place you should use spell. also, dont expect save any bucks for powder and oil..each time you go 1 dozen of each is MINIMUM..

No one asked you for help with the avatars, so don't presume to deny what people don't want of you. Seriously, I always figured you were one of the more decent jp/importers in this board, but I see you're just another elistist.

Yet another reason I prefer the SD boards - the number of helpful posts way outnumber the number of NA hate posts

I completely agree with Deedlit. Posts like that really are not needed on these forums. What purpose did it serve other than to cause strife and bad feelings towards you? So what if she did use a higher level friend to get the Avatar? THEY didn't mind, and obviously neither did she. So quite honestly, i believe that it is their decision to make, not yours to criticize. And big deal, so they missed the amount of exp. they lost, they still got the point across that they would be losing a massive amount of exp. This whole game is about teamwork and having fun, why waste your time knocking down everyone else? If you don't like leechers, then don't allow them in your party, plain and simple, I for one do not think you need to spam posts with your negative comments however.

Deedlit just got lucky, I'm hoping I can do the same.

SMN Battles are pretty easy really. Just take a high lvl pld and any mage would work thats 55 at least.

Here is my SMN PT

PLD , WHM, WHM, BLM, BLM, BRD

It always works and guarantees u a vicotry. Just make sure the PLD is above 65. In Midgardsormr PLD for Avatar Quests are the hardest to find. Mages on the other hand are easy since most NA Mages in Midgardsormr wants to be SMN ^_^;;

Here is more info collected about getting to Leviathan since it is the most difficult cloister to get to:

Paintbrush Room
You will come to a room with 5 paintings on the wall and one empty canvas.
There are 4 tonberries in this room at a minimum, usually with elementals - we also ran into a named tonberry 'beryl footed tonberry' that was a ninja type, very mean.
The person with the paintbursh should be high enough level that the tonberry wont attack them when they open the door to Den of Rancor, otherwise you will have a room full of tonberry trying to kill you :sweat:

The person with the paintbrush clicks on the picture frame with the empty canvas until they get a message about the paintbrush.

At this point you go around the room and examine each painting. Then go back to the canvas, Click on it, then wait a bit and click again. If you did all this right then to your left a door will open to Rancor's den - this can take a few tries and make sure the person with the paintbrush is the last one to go through the door in case someone was dumb enough to afk because I am certain you cannot open this door from the other side.
