Need an experienced summoners advice!

K, I've got my job joices down to either, Summoner or Ranger.

I'm into damage so oviously the first thought that comes to mind, is Ranger correct?

Also the thing is, I've always been into the summoners as well, their even why I started playing Final Fantasy in the first place.

I also like the idea or the avatar's party support abilities, specifically Aerial Armor and Earthen Ward.

Now I would either make Mithra RNG or Taru SMN. Now the reason I ask for a high level Summoner to help me, is I am wondering about the damage output that avatars have. I've heard their level 70 abiliies are mouth dropping, but consume a lot of mp.

I know RNG would help a party a lot (Damage dealer, puller), but I think that with the right equipment and having all the avatars from the get go (I get tired of partying w/ summoners who have Carb and only Carb, no offense), that Summoners would be a highly respected and wanted class.

I think Sheila may be able to help me, I hope she reads this.

Please no replies from people who simply say the SMN class sucks, thanks.

Keep in mind that you will need to have max fame in all cities plus Norg in order to even be able to get the Avatar quests, and you need about 5 70+ players willing to escort you through ubah zones (Ifrit's Cauldron anyone?) to have you sit around while they kill the summon. I finally had someone offer to help me with weekend on my server, but it will also cost me a fair amount of gil - silent oil and prism powder isn't cheap, and sneak/invis is not an option.

Now that's we're past that, I can tell you that playing a SMN/WHM is loads of fun, if anything else. WHM's can get to be a bit boring on their own, but here you can cure, buff, debuff, and attack with your pet - lots of stuff to do. As a taru, you won't even be getting agro - your pet keeps it - unless you chain cast cure.

With all that said, also know that the summoner class is considered to be broken. I would list why here, but Sheila already has a nice FAQ on gamefaqs where she explains why this is the case. I am stubborn, and really enjoy the class, so I am going to level it up with my WHM in hopes that some time in the future it will be fixed. I recommend you read her article there.

Well that's a little encrouagment. And yes I know it'll be extremely hard to get the summons.

I hated playing with a Taru also lol. I really like the dark, long haired hume girl.

But at level 70, 200 extra MP was just too much to turn down.

Just an FYI, I play a mithra SMN/WHM. We have the same mp as Humes, and I'm not having any problem at all with mp. If anything, if we have to take a beating, my agi helps me dodge it, and I have more hp, so I don't die immediately. Don't rule out Hume and Mithra because of the mp issue

Ya, I try not be be racist in this game (not literally). Really the only thing that bothers my are Galka mages lol. Other than that I can live with it.

I played Hume WHM cause I just wanted a normal sized person, and I've played WHM Taru before, and I absolutely couldn't take the difference. After maybe 5-7 levels, I switched back to Taru.

No offense, but hey yer character looks kewler lol.
