Summons and their strengths

Just out of curiosity:

Exactly how hard is it to get the summons as a level 30ish BLM and full linkshell party. If I'm going to be a summoner I'm not going to want to sit around until higher levels until I can get some good summons.

Also, how powerful are the summons, all of them, at lower levels? I've heard things about the summons pretty much being way underpowered at lower levels, at least until you hit around 60+. If I'm going to put a lot of work into making a bad assed summoner, I want him to be BAD ASSED! LoL....

I can't say for sure how strong the summons are, but if that full linkshell party should happen to have 5 lvl 70+ people to compensate for your low level, there's a fairly good chance you could get them.
