where do you fight the summons?

i've heard all over that to obtain summons, you first have to defeat them. but... i haven't seen one thing about where you go to fight those summons. is it just a thing you can do any time, or do you have to go to a certain place to fight certain summons?

also, another little question, about how hard are the summons? say shiva... how many people and about what lvl would they have to be to defeat her?

You have to go to the Cloisters for each summon... or around them. If you go into the Main Menu -> Region Info then just move the mouse around the different regions and you'll see a few Cloisters.

To defeat any of the summons you have to be lvl 60 with a full PT.

Are you positive you must be level 60 to attain them???

I was under the impression a level 1 summoner could join a full group of 60s, and still get access to the summons.

Its possible but you really really need all 6 people at lvl 60 to kill them... you'd probally end up dying from AoE attack or something. I plan on trying to be a lvl 30 WHM and go with other lvl 60's and just stand in the back and heal... and see if we can beat one, but my friend said we'd all most likely die... so. But its probally possible.

yes, it can be beated EASY with 5 level 70 probably 4 i won't be supprised if 3 could do it (after all i did witness behemoth go down by a 5 people party)
however, what's the point to depend on others? so you can show off how lame you got your summon? the job of a summoner does not show their true color untill 70,and before that it's lameness over lameness and more lameness.. if youc an't even endure a job to obtain the actual summon on your own ability, do you even think that you can bare playing summoner as a broken job for 70 levels? no
