You posted twice btw... but anyways...

Yes, someone has reach lvl 62 with SMN that is a mod on this site, her name is Sheila. Read her "Sticky" top on the top of this forum that says "Summoner information topic". From what I have heard.. a DRG's dragon is stronger than the summons.

Right now.. SMN is a WHM with summons... they really just call a summon, use an ability, call it back, and heal... if you don't do this process then you will have 0 MP at the end of 1 battle and the other mages in your PT will have over half MP left. Then you have to rest which gets your PT upset because they have to wait... etc etc...

Well I think Summons would become useful after time. Besides. Buhamut is awesome. He has to be UBER!

there is level 70 importer smn, and he's the only level 70 smn i know (i think i have only seen 2 other 70 smn on rag)
there's the level 70 smn abilities that most people does not know,
he showed me those moves, and i have to say they are very imporessive, it surely puts down a level 70 blm in term of damage and efficiency against a level 70 smn
        here are the moves

        ?EƒCƒtƒŠ?[ƒg
        ƒtƒŒƒCƒ€ƒNƒ‰ƒbƒVƒ…?F 3‰ñ?UŒ‚
        ifrit, flame crash: 3x attack

        ?Eƒ^ƒCƒ^ƒ“
        ƒ}ƒEƒ“ƒeƒ“ƒNƒ‰ƒbƒVƒ…?F ’ljÁŒø‰Ê?FƒoƒCƒ“ƒh
titan, mountain crash: addon effect, bind

        ?EƒKƒ‹?[ƒ_
        ƒvƒŒƒfƒ^?[ƒNƒ??[?F 3‰ñ?UŒ‚
garuda, puredetaa(whatever that is) crow: 3x attack

        ?EƒVƒ”ƒ@
        ƒ‰ƒbƒVƒ…?F 5‰ñ?UŒ‚
        shiva, rush: 5x attack

        ?EƒŠƒ”ƒ@ƒCƒAƒTƒ“
        ƒXƒsƒjƒ“ƒOƒ_ƒCƒu?F•¨—??UŒ‚
        levi, spining daipu(eh?): physical attack

        ?Eƒ‰ƒ€ƒE
        ƒJƒIƒXƒXƒgƒ‰ƒCƒN?F‚R‰ñ?UŒ‚?@’ljÁŒø‰ÊƒXƒ^ƒ“
ramuh, chaos strike: 3x attack with addon effect stun

those do insane damage and their mana consumption aren't hardly as much as what blm need to deal out those damage

then there's another set of abilities at an level beyond 70 that i found on a jp website

        ?EƒCƒtƒŠ?[ƒg: ƒ?ƒeƒIƒXƒgƒ‰ƒCƒN?F “G‚ɉΑ®?«ƒ_ƒ??[ƒW
        ?Eƒ^ƒCƒ^ƒ“: ƒWƒIƒNƒ‰ƒbƒVƒ…?F “y‘®?«ƒ_ƒ??[ƒW?B’ljÁŒø‰Ê?FƒXƒ^ƒ“
        ?EƒKƒ‹?[ƒ_:ƒEƒBƒ“ƒhƒuƒŒ?[ƒh?F “G‚É•—‘®?«‚̃_ƒ??[ƒW
        ?EƒVƒ”ƒ@:ƒwƒuƒ“ƒŠ?[ƒXƒgƒ‰ƒCƒN?F “G‚É•X‘®?«‚̃_ƒ??[ƒW
        ?EƒŠƒ”ƒ@ƒCƒAƒTƒ“:ƒOƒ‰ƒ“ƒhƒtƒH?[ƒ‹?F“G‚É?…‘®?«‚̃_ƒ??[ƒW
        ?Eƒ‰ƒ€ƒE:ƒTƒ“ƒ_?[ƒXƒg?[ƒ€?F“G‚É—‹‘®?«‚̃_ƒ??[ƒW

apparently they are not obbtainable yet with this level cap (probably at 75?)

and lastly here is a list of move rumored to be fenrir's
        ?EƒtƒFƒ“ƒŠƒ‹
        “Ë?i?F’ljÁŒø‰ÊˆÃˆÅ
        ƒ‹ƒiƒeƒBƒbƒNƒtƒ@ƒ“ƒO?F’ljÁŒø‰Ê–ƒáƒ
        ƒnƒEƒŠƒ“ƒO
        ƒnƒEƒŠƒ“ƒOII
        ƒfƒBƒXƒyƒ‹
        ƒgƒŠƒvƒ‹ƒoƒCƒg?F‚R‰ñ?UŒ‚
        ƒnƒEƒŠƒ“ƒOIII
        ƒnƒEƒŠƒ“ƒOƒ€?[ƒ“
        ƒnƒEƒŠƒ“ƒOƒ€?[ƒ“S?F?Å’áMP?FLv*2MP?B‘S–‚—Í‚ðŽg‚Á‚Ĕ͈͓à‚Ì“G‚Ɉő®?«ƒ_ƒ??[ƒW

fenrir seems to be the counter part of ƒJ?[ƒoƒ“ƒNƒ‹ (which is light), fenrir has all dark attacks and one move wth the name "luna something" which fits the rumor that he relates to moon....

anyways right now i have yet to be able to find info about bahamut other than lieing around rumor that says he's in the game data. i believe even he is added in, he will not over power the other summons.

Those skills do look rather impressive. And i will take your word that they could put a Black Mage in their place. I just dont understand why everyone says summoners and their summons are weak. Maybe its cause they haven't seen a high level summoner yet. oh one quick question. Do you get the active and passive abilities of both your main job and your sub job?

Yes, you get the passive ablities and active ablities (EXCEPT the 2 hr of your sub) of your sub job as long as your the same level as it would be for your main job to use them... also, the summon's attacking is weak but when it comes to their abilities they're pretty powerful...

I have seen pictures of fenrir floating around on the Summoner forums, he looks quite impressive. As far as summoners go, I'm very disappointed as I was thinking of switching to being one... And maybe I will in hopes that they'll tweak it a bit and make them stronger. Its really not fair to have them as a "support class" -- they should be what they were/are intended to be, and thought as to be: A pet class. While some summons should have supporting attributes, others should be able to dish out some decent damage. The fact that the Dragoon's pet does more is just plain mortifying. If I were S-E I would reduce the MP upkeep to maintain a summon, and give summons like Titan, Earth Elemental and Ifrit some decent resilience and damage output. I don't think that'd be asking too much... I posted about this in a different topic, as well...

For the record, Anima is among the coolest summons I've ever seen -- Although in FFX he didn't seem to be all that mobile, if you know what I mean. Odin would be mucho awesome (I'm a Wotanist so it makes me smile that they included a Pagan god)

I don't understand why summoners are considered a 'pet' class at all. In no previous Final Fantasy was any summon anything more than a mighty attack, or in some cases, powerful defensive/beneficial effect. One certainly didn't keep them around, fighting for you, for a long period of time.

If indeed a pet class is what a summoner should be, it is those little spirits which should be focused on as the pets, while the great, named summons should certainly be special, powerful attacks/defensive abilities as they always have been. Turning Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, Leviathan, and the others into mere 'pets' really cheapens how special they're supposed to be.

If Kirara is right, it sounds like at highest levels, summoners are pretty much as they should be...they call forth the summons and use them for powerful attacks and such. Which is pretty much what I, and I would presume, most anyone who is familiar with Final Fantasy, would expect to do with Summons.
Koyasha, Paladin, Red Mage, White Mage...
