  • To SAM or not to SAM

I started playing Mnk in my offtime about 3-4 months ago, after lvl 25 it started to grow on me and I leveled it up to 50, taking down NM's for the Fuma, Kote, Brown belt etc. Even had peacock charm from lvling BST. Now heres the problem, I made it to 50 and farmed my ass off for over a month to obtain a set of Cross-counters, turning my monk into a monster, but while I left my monk alone at times, I started leveling SAM. Now I'm completely hooked, and SAM is approaching the level where I can start using my MNK gear. I tried playing MNK again, and got bored within the first 14 min of a party. Now I'm regretting purchasing the CC's and just about ready to sell it, and go about leveling SAM.

    Good decision or bad one

    65 bst - 50 mnk - 40 sam

Re: To SAM or not to SAM

There is no good or bad decision, if you like SAM more which is quite apparent, then play SAM and not MNK, if you like MNK more play MNK etc...do what makes you happy, isn't that the point of games?

I also wouldn't sell the CCs encase for some reason you want to lvl MNK again in the future.

Don't sell the CC's, put mnk on the shelf for a bit and level SAM to your hearts content. I love BLU, SAM, MNK, DRK, and DNC about as much as I love WAR, but I ended up putting WAR on the shelf for awhile to level BLU since I didn't have Utsusemi Ni. Now that I have my Utsusemi NI scroll, I can go back to meriting on Warrior til I pass out lol. My objective is not to sell stuff that I'll have to buy back again when I have to level a new job that can use the same weapons. When I level DRK, I have Great Swords, Axes, and Great Axes from when I leveled Warrior and I shall punish them with all weapons.

Re: To SAM or not to SAM

I would say sell the CC. It sounds like you really love Sam, and I bet you are going to take it to 75. During that time your CC will be sitting in your mh depreciating in value. I just looked at the FFXIAH for CC's on Alexander and it looks like the price has not fluctuated in a long time, but that won't insure that if/when you do pick up monk again that they won't be cheaper. There is no gaurantee that they won't go back up in price either. It's very much like playing the stock market. This is only my opinion, and as they say, opinions vary.

Hmm, I didn't think about depreciation and dealing with the AH is truly like playing the stock market. I'm at work so I can't see how much CC's cost but they must be plenty since you want to sell them to fund SAM. Decision is yours and if you feel as though the money will help you then sell them, or else keep them and lock them away in the MH until you want them again.

You can always find help and camp the NM for the ex version of the CC too. I'd say sell the CC if you truly aren't going to continue with monk for awhile, not sure which server you're on, but on midgard the CC sell for about 800k, and a Hagun, which you'll want for sam is about 2.8 mil.

What Sylvane said. Sell 'em if you're liking sam. Plus Hagun, which you'll definitely want, cost a pretty penny...

Re: To SAM or not to SAM

                What's your playing style?

Do you like weaponskilling often? Do you like being able to make decent weaponskills with any job? If so, go samurai.

Otherwise, if you enjoy monk and the haste from hand to hand, then stay monk..

Just depends on your play style.

I believe this is what you were looking for, but I may be mistaken.

Maybe get MNK to 52 then sell the CC's. While CC's are nice, TM Hooks +2 are cheaper and almost as strong. That way you can keep going with both jobs if you like :3

Honestly I wouldn't just stop MNK altogether, because you obviously did enjoy it. I would suggest playing SAM until you get fed up, at which point MNK may seem like a very refreshing change. I personally have both jobs to 75 and love both (though I SAM much more)
