this post is pretty ridiculous. this is basically like asking if you'd get kicked out for not having that absurd Luisant gear.

bottom line - be good at your job, have a good attitude, solid (doesn't have to be the absolute BEST) gear, and people will get to know you. from there on, it's pretty smooth sailing all the way through.

I know for me at least, I camped for my Okote and Sarutobi Kyahan, but there is no way I'm spending all my gil on a PCC. While it is possible to level without them, it's a bonus to grab them, just throw a movie on and camp.

I -never- got any flack leveling my SAM. I -never- owned O. Kote, or a PCC. I did fine with my Custom M. Gloves I also never had a Hauby until my Sky LS gave out gifts to LS members (Hauby was around 6mil at the time). I used that level 66ish Black Jerkin until I got my Lv. 70 JSE Chest XD I really don't see why you'd worry about it, and why others would too. x_x;

I don't understand why you need gil for O Kotes or the Kyahan anyway. While there is still the occasional camper, those NMs are both very easy to camp now. They're also in the same zone to make it that much easier.

Skip leveling for a day or two and just hang out there. In the end, you'll still have your gil and you'll have a couple of nice items as well.

I agree with everyone that you shouldn't get mocked or scorned for not having them. At the same time, there's no reason not to make the effort to get them as well.

Bottom line. Most ppl dont really care but it's always nice to try and play your job well. Playing well does not only mean knowing what to do but also trying to keep your gear in good shape as well: gil and time willing.

Out of those 3 items if you were to spend your gil on, o.kote is the most worth while of all 3. hands down. from lv. 34 you can wear them to end game. There's some free and good alternatives once you reach end game which is why a lot of sam dont sport o.kote at 75 but if you dont have the chance to get these alternatives your o.kotes will still be an excellent hand piece.

pcc is great but not necessary ever. there's so many cheaper alternatives to pcc.

fuma kyahan not also not necessary. sams dont really need a haste build, if they do its only at 75. most sams i know go with store tp builds then the typical ws builds. however, if you plan on playing mnk or nin... fuma kyahan is a nice piece to have for nin and mnk.

It doesn't exactly have the best drop rate. My friend is now something like 0/35 on each of those two NMs. In the time that he's spent camping them for the Ex versions of Kote and Kyahan, he probably could have farmed the gil to buy them from the AH.

So, yeah, you don't need gil to get them. But farming up the gil isn't necessarily a worse solution compared to camping the NMs in Oztroja.
