    Re: Why nerf samurai?

And yet SE still hasn't nerfed /NIN... (Well, not as much as they should.)

Personally I prefer buffing other jobs as opposed to nerfing them (or giving slight/unique buffs to mobs that won't make them harder for everyone, just specific combos that are broken)

Doesn't really change the fact that they beat just about every other weapon in the game, endgame or not, at what they do. You'd expect there to be weapons at 75 that can outperform them, but there aren't.

            Re: Why nerf samurai?

The thing is, with elemental staves, there is a trade off for the magic accuracy and damage potency; lousy physical damage, needing to change weapon for different spells (and lose TP), inventory crunch, etc. The problem with pre-November adjustment Soboro is that there was no significant trade off--show up in party, and you can do great damage, whether you're SAM/WAR, SAM/NIN, or, heck, probably even SAM/WHM, and can do so with "average" gear.

Spells won't perform great just because a staff was used (my BLM learned that painfully on Lesser Colibris, as did my RDM on Imps); you need a host of other gears working in conjunction with them to do well. (Or, in case of BLM, maybe convince party to fight other things.)

So, it's not that a SAM using Soboro Sukehiro can do great damage that was broken; it's that every SAM can, without much effort--that, was what's wrong with it. In any case, that issue is fixed.

(It remains to be seen if the weapon skills themselves were over-nerfed or not; I haven't partied with enough SAMs post update to tell, yet.)

You want to nerf /NIN? Then reduce the shadow count by -1 as sub only.

Lv correction factor, is not. This is what makes lolrng can even do good damage on HNM.

Viking Axe lasts a good while for WAR too... elemental staves... there are quite a few good weapons that last a long time.

wow, first. viking axes are used off hand once better options become available. in all actuality, they are only used by wars that cant readily afford one of the higher lvl axes right away.

elemental staves?! nice way to take a point and totally skew it to being utterly ridiculous. let's reiterate it. lv. 50 weapons completely out dd'ing a lv. 70+ weapon. not being 'useful'. if you want to go down that ridiculous path then the whole game is just fucked. sniper rings are lv. 40, moldavite is 47, chiv. chain is 60, ranger's necklace is 14. peacock charm is 33. They are all useful till 75 but when it comes to dmg it is a whole different point.

the comment made about ridill vs soboro. like kirsteena said, its a lv. 70 weapon and im not sure why you pulled that exception out because when it comes to ridill, it IS the exception to a lot of things. The notion that its so easily comparable to anything is just ridiculous.

finally, ive been on soboro runs mal, its NOT THAT bad. you make everything sound so f-ing dramatic. You will get runs where you get 5-6 soboros in a row. Even if you dont get it, you have an abundance of clustered tars to the point where you start throwing them away. Oh, and the 15min respawn of the ??? is nice too.

The annoying thing about soboro is that everyone and their mom wants one. When you have a group of 15 and 14 ppl need it, of course its going to suck. It doesnt mean that its hard to get, its just hard to get people to commit 4 hours of their life to killing the damn nm. However, its not like camping faffy for months and only claiming half of them and seeing 0 ridills.

Again, going back to the 2nd post of this thread, did we really need another one of these?

It's just like in real life tho man. Obviously a white collar desk jockey isn't going to knock out a mugger as quickly as a 300lb body builder who drinks egg yolk and pumps his pecks 95% of his day. IMO.

They'll fix whatever they wronged, just give it some time.

                      Necro! Necro!

                      I got a Soboro Sukehiro.

                      Tagged along on an LS Soboro/Blue Magic run to see if I can get a "leftover" Samurai sword out of it. Used my (actually, my sister's) Cluster Tar on the first pop, killed the cluster, then waited for higher level SAMs in the LS to lot--but people in the LS told me to just grab it. >_>;

So, I'm now a SAM32 with Soboro Sukehiro. ._. (And, yes, everyone else who wanted one got one.)

Goes to show that Soboro isn't that hard to get, so a SAM with one shouldn't be that powerful without a set up build specifically for it.

Anyways, I've been laughing the last few weeks about the DDs all crying over who is overpowered and which jobs need to be nerfed/unnerfed...while RDM, which hasn't been updated/adjusted outside of the Gravity nerf in like 3 years is off quietly soloing ridiculous monsters w/ an overpowered Bind.
