    Re: SAM as a tank

    Roshi Jinpachi lvl73. And i just use the NQ version of Shogun because only major difference is HQ = double attack+5, NQ double attack+1

    You realize that the NQ only doubles to +2 DA then, as opposed to +10 on the Shogun right?

    As for O.Kote, while they were helpful on my SAM in the early stages, I recently sold them and I'm honestly not noticing that big of a drop in performance. I really like the extra STR and AGI I have on now. >_ > idk how but I managed a Tachi: Yukikaze on an IT puk today (we had a BRD) on /WAR, with Soboro for 576 dmg.

    That's just crazy. Unfortunately I don't recall if I had 100 or 200 TP (I know it wasn't 300) but STILL O _ O; Soboro's base dmg is very weak. I freaking love my new STR build now that I have the WS to back it up.

      Yeah, I know, but its never on the AH whenever I go to look for it, so I just settle for NQ.

        I tank in my o.kotes. but I'm a little crazy like that. (I also didn't have any other hands with me)

        if you're looking for other hands to use while tanking: I recommend Horomusha and/or Noritsune Kote (depending on level). there's several other good pieces as well, but they're mostly EX (I'm looking at you, Askar Manopolas) Seiryu's Kote might have theoretical potential as well in an AGI based tanking build.

        that said: it's generally accepted that o.kotes are the standard until such time as you can get a pair of bandomusha kote, at least as far as general melee sam/war sam/thf goes.

          Re: SAM as a tank

          Sorry for the massive necro, but since I was speculating something on SAM tanking and I saw I had actually POSTED in a SAM tank topic in the not-so-distant past, figured I'd just use this topic rather than have people repeat what they've already posted here in a new one;

          Out of curiosity, do the attacks evaded from Third Eye shed enmity similarly to Utsusemi shadows? Or does Enmity remain the same?

            Still undocumented. But the activation of Seigan/Hasso gives you 1 CE and 300 VE
            as a comparison, Utsu shadow lost is -25CE per shadow

              Re: SAM as a tank

              Slightly off- so, what's the deal with Seigan, exactly? Is there any way to enhance it's effect?

              Could someone theoretically stack heavy on whatever makes Seigan stronger and come out with at least a passable off-tank?
              Sounds cool if it could happen.

                Supposedly The Sayotome Haidate's effect stacks with Seigan.

                  Enough to tank?

                  <Hmm.>

                  It'd be cool if we had Armando up in here. He'd melt our brains with some witchcraft-math, then tell us if we can tank or not.

                    Re: SAM as a tank

                    Statistics
                    Saotome Haidate
                    [Legs] All Races
                    DEF: 40 HP +18 AGI +3 Enmity +1
                    Enhances "Third Eye" effect
                    Lv. 72 SAM

                    Enhances "Third Eye" effect

                    Gives ~25% chance to counter an anticipated attack rather than simply evading it. A countered attack will not necissarily remove the third eye effect.

                    Assuming this stacks with Seigan then yes, SAM could be a decent tank but seeing as you need Lv 72 to wear it >_>...

                      The monsters would probably be over this sort of wankery at this level anyhow.

                      "LOL SAM tank?" *kersmash*

                      Risingsun takes a hojillion damage.
                      Risingsun dies.

                      SUPER IMPORTANT (MUY IMPORTANTE) EDIT:

                      Would a potentially gimp sub (NIN) allow for tanking?

                      Seigan+Third Eye+ UTSUSEMI:NI = Amazing no-hit tank?
