im starting up sam as my melee main and i like it a lot so far. I was looking at the AF and to me it really didnt seen all that usefull, with the exception of 1-2 pieces. i was wondering if it is worth it to get the af or just farm better gear like scorp harness or something. any advice will help ^^

Re: sam AF question
Just from looking at the armor pieces, I'll say there're better things out there. The +Enmity is completely undesirable, the stat bonuses it grants are mostly acceptable but nothing too special, but I'd do it for the hat. Enhancing Meditate would be very, very nice... plus, who doesn't want all their AF just for kitsch value?

Most of the Samurai AF is pretty meh, it's true. Myochin Haidate (legs) has a reasonably useful STR+3, and of course the Myochin Kabuto (head) has the very nice Meditate boost. The rest of the pieces might as well not exist for all the use that you'll probably get out of them (though their AF+1 versions after upgrading are somewhat better).

Yeah. The poor unfortunate Bards of Vanadiel certainly got the short straw when AF was handed out (not even going to mention the Sha'ir... uh... fashion).
But they can also wear the Demon Head, which certainly has SOME redeeming quality.

As a matter of interest, do you have to get the gauntlets or any of the other coffer pieces before activating the AF3 quest? I really don't know.
But a Hauberk would definitely compliment your insane SAM DD-ness more effectively than a Scorp Harness would.

Re: sam AF question
In my opinion, most of the SAM AF is pretty lack luster... The Myochin Haidate (legs, lvl 54) are useful for their STR+ and Parrying+ but some may argue that R.K. Breeches (55) are better, and they are fairly inexpensive.
The Myochin Kabuto (helm, 60) is the winner here, for obvious reasons.. it can be a little tough to get, but not too terrible. To get this quest from Jaucabrix (sp?) You need to have the SAM AF Myochin Sune-ate.
and btw, you mentioned that you were thinking of getting a hauby? DO IT, this piece of gear will be useful forever.. literally, it's endgame worthy. I popped mine on the second I hit 59, I'm almost 60 now and I've already noticed a large difference from it.. well.. and from the Daihannya and Sipahi Turban.

Re: sam AF question
Just get the full set, you need to get the helmet anyway. Plus I still use the pants for WS. And have the rest of the armor.. is nice to wear.. not really useful except storage wise, or if your poor, you eat certain Riceballs with AF gloves.
Helmet for Meditate & Now Warding Circle (Seems to make Warding Circle last longer) for fighting imps in expanded area.
Pants for Macroing in for WS.
All else, keep so you can put all into storage when your on another job.
