Me and 2 friends have been doing a half-static. Only 3 of us. Originally it looked like we were going to try NIN NIN and a SAM. I, one of the Ninjas, am seduced by Samurai. It always happens. So now we are going to try SAM NIN SAM. We would have to pick up the mages/ support: a BLM, A WHM or SMN, and a RDM or BRD. Towards the end game especially, and I am only talking about EXP Parties btw, seems like two SAMs couldn't lose. BLM could MB and and SAM damage isn't half bad. Do you think this trio is a strong half-static pt? Any SAM's have experience in a Static with another SAM?

Re: SAM SAM NIN Static? how does that sound?
Don't take this the wrong way, but melees are a dime a dozen most of the time. You're going to have a really tough time trying to fill the entire back line of a party if all you bring is 2 melees and a tank. I've seen several attempts to form static parties without at least one critical backline job (RDM or BRD especially), and the honest truth is that you're no better off than if you weren't in a static party.. less so, even, since you can't just fill an empty slot in a party, but have to wait for a full back line to be available every time you want to go XP.
Should also note that, beyond level 65ish, 2x SAM is not particularly powerful, as it lacks a strong offensive finisher, as well as no easy access to level 3 skillchains.

Icemage is right. If you're able to secure a BRD in your static PT howevr, filling the PT ought to be easy and a BRD with your setup would help your performance greatly. Other mages I would recomend would be BLM, to take advantage of the amount of skillchains you can do and MB off them. RDM or WHM, haste will be a great benefit for your PT setup, both for tank and your Samurai.

Trying to find a BRD and a RDM on the spur of the moment every time is likely to be impossible, however.

Re: SAM SAM NIN Static? how does that sound?
I actually do static now with 2 sams, me being one of them and it's a thing of beauty to watch. Our setup is nin/sam/sam/blm/brd/whm. Only downside we've encountered is the nin will have major pressure sometimes to keeps hate pff of us (the 2 sams) I actually prefer whm in this setup to rdm because our brd just got ballad 2, since she can now double ballad our mages we don't need refresh as much. And Erase helps alot when crabs are spamming the STR down AOE. In our case, and i know alot of people won't agree with me on this but Erase > Refresh. If we didn't have a 55 brd itd be a different story, but we do so its not.

Re: SAM SAM NIN Static? how does that sound?
thanks for the input, and i think i'm going to do DRk now :D Galka does that one handed ground strike.. That's perfect for my character. He's too tough to use 2 hands. And the strong closers... Drk seems like the right choice.
My friends and I have been doing surprisingly well in terms of finding the support half of our party P_P well... i hope our luck continues

Re: SAM SAM NIN Static? how does that sound?
(hmmmm) I am also in a 3 man static with myself (sam) plus a pld and a whm. I like Samurai a lot but I am also very flexible to change classes. In this particular setup what would be a more beneficial class for me to play? or is Sam a good choice?
ps. bard is not an option (i just cant play that class)"Death is nothing, but to live defeated and inglorious is to die daily.â€
