Just got mine. Took about an hour and 45 minutes. I have 2 and half stacks of G. Sheep meat, but I now have the Great Katana. Time to go play with it. I just hit SAM Lv.10 earlier tonight.

Im soooo envious of everyone who has the wooden katana. I took a couple months off from FFXI and I guess it was given out between that time ><. When did the event happen? and are they going to do it again???

I keep seeing people with the Wooden Katana, and it looks pretty sweet. I would love to have it to just walk around with, but had nothing in the damage department, so I wouldn't actually use it. But it would be sweet to have!

Of course it does take another item slow and I'm hurting for item slots these days. lol Tried to do Gobby Bag V today, but they didn't have the leather I need.

Just hit SAM14 the other night. Party was tired so we called it a night. I solo'd my last 1100 EXP to Lv.14.

I'm using the Katayama ichimonji. Not a bad {Great Katana}, I'm landing {Tachi: Enpi} for about 80-110dmg on EXP mobs, but when should I move on and get another {Great Katana}? It's regular damage isn't bad. I've been eating Jack-o'-lanterns for the Acc at this level since I just hit Lv.14 for the Battle Gloves.

Should I upgrade now, or can I hold out with this one for a little while longer?

Always go for the highest damage gkatana. It's so much more effective on the damn crabs and pugs you level off of at that level.

I really would not use jackos for anything, maybe rice dumplings since you need both attack and acc. Use sushi if you're going ranged (pretty good at that level to hit high def mobs).

Everyone should, but it's not obtainable yet. Will be sometime in October we're guessing. Upon the release of the rest of CoP.

What's odd though is somepage has the DPS as 10.50, which is actually less than both Shinsoku and Ushikirimaru. I guess the reason is the extra delay on it, but I would think the raw D and latent STR on it would make up for that.

Or maybe somepage isn't entirely accurate with regard to latent str, etc. This means that the Soboro Sukehiro (lvl 50 dmg 40, rated at 5.33 dps) out damages the Futsuno Mitama (not counting weapon skills) because it gets more hits in.

Wow, the Futsuno Mitama has a lower dps than even the Kamewari. That's one slow gkt...

You wouldn't ever use Soboro on a large HNM though. In the HNM scene we get reduced to TA whores, minus say, Fafnir. You want the top D and STR for your WS. Solo wise though yeahhh, Soboro is pretty solid. You can always argue the use of others though.

It's a step up from MNK. We become MNK/WHM wearing Suzaku's Sune-Ate, and once every 3 minutes, we get to pull hate and die.

Edit: My SAM is rapidly approaching 50 (48 currently). Any advice on my GKT progression? At 50, I'm planning to of course have Soboro (once I beat Diabolos), but what bout till then and for how long should I use Soboro...or if at all
