Re: Static with a Samurai Tank?

You know just wondering, the Enimity+ on SAM AF seem to indicate that SAM was designed to tank as well? With Third Eye and all...i dunno if that has been discussed but if they were indeed designed to be able to tank somewhat ok...then why dont people try to do one and see what they can do with it? O_o

Re: Static with a Samurai Tank?

I'm breaking my own rule replying to an old thread, but just wanted to say that to me, the Enmity+ on Sam gear made me believe that SE had Sam/Thf in mind for Sam. Our paper thin armor makes us lousy tanks except on EP/TW prey imo.

Wait, how? MNKs and SAM gear is about the same, so we can have tanking MNKs and not SAMs..?

Lol i want to get some responses and information D: please elaborate.

Simple response: Mnk have a lot more hp, and thus more leeway. But, Mnks are a strain on healer's mp because it's harder to keep them out of yellow (unless it's decided to just keep them in yellow). However, it is likely that a sam tank is more of a strain stress-wise because we do have less hp than mnk (less leeway to keep us alive vs. mnk).

Like I said, these are just my opinions on this particular matter. I'm not saying my beliefs are law or anything. d:

Re: Static with a Samurai Tank?

Having played extensively with Fastcart's paper thin armor, I can definitely echo his comment about SAM being very poor tanks. My MP pool drains like water whenever he pulls hate around me... D:

The reason monks make reasonable tanks in some situations is because of a wealth of defensive abilities. They have a lot of defensive abilities as well, between parry, evasion, guard, Dodge and of course, Counter. This isn't to say monks are great at tanking, because they're not. But they do better than Samurai do usually, since the only things samurai have are good parry and evasion, Third Eye, and the ever so slight effect of Counter if using AF2 armors.
