  • DRG sub

after having a brainstorming session in my LS somone suggested Dragoon as my sub for Samurai. I know that goes against everything everyone says about never subbing dragoon. My question is has anyone tried it and if so does it give the SAM the uber offensive edge that we need? i want a sub that will do the most damage possible with my Great Katana. if dragoon doesnt work then please tell me what does.

    thanks guys

I used drg sub from 20-30. Can't say anything bad about it...
Jump was nice ^^ But you do ONLY get Jump until lv 70 ><. As you get higher, other SJ overshadow drg, but it isn't as awedul as say smn.

the benefits arent that great but you do get the attack up trait as well as the accuracy up trait. It cant compete with double attack though. I tried it, jumping is realy cool, you may not most effective in battle but you'll defenetily be the best lookin

not a whole lot can compete w/ double attack, throw in that berserk is the same sub and well..... everything else just kinda pales in comparison

I hear jump looks awesome with pretty much any melee, so I guess I'll get DRG to 10 to check it out. Certainly not terrible relative to other jobs, but yeah, won't stack up to WAR/THF.

like someone already said with /DRG job abilities you'll only get jump until 70. Job traits though you'll get Attack bonus once Sam is 20 and an Accuracy bonus once Sam is 60. That isn't to bad really for SAM.

The double attack you'd get from /WAR though is probably still better. The beserk if it's used every single time it's available as soon as it is for a fight then it'll definatly get out more damage, otherwise if it isn't kept up enough then the attack bonus will out do it. It would only take 2-3 more hits with an attack bonus to equal out what damage the berserk would of given.

Again though once Sam is 60 then you'll just get an attack bonus from WAR as well. So from 20 - 59 you're damage could be somewhat close to what you'd do with berserk (depending on how well it's maintained), but without the double attack it ends up hurting that. Yet again on the other hand if Jump is used consistently (Assuming that Double Attack doesn't fire to often, not sure of how much it actually does) then it could probably still keep in par or very close to it.

Once you hit 60 and up though /WAR is going to start having better benefits and with Warcry soon to be in play as well as now getting an attack bonus with /WAR that single 1 attack bonus you have kinds of starts to look less apealing. You'll have a somewhat accuracy advantage over the /WAR though and the High Jump will help to shed off more hate. Thats the quick and obvious Pros/Cons to the two I can think of.
