      Speculation

Maybe you need to create one renkei of each typ, i.e: level1, level2 and level3 renkei?

      Just a thought.

I'm 10 levels away from being able to fight the geezer tho.

It's an idea but it's impossible to do at level 70 =\ you would need the quest WS in order to make a level 3 renkei.

And i'm just razzing yeh on the hume bit, best of luck on the next go with Maat, i'm sure you'll beat em.

Bit of information. I didn't use my attack earrings, haubergeon or ochi's in order to keep my evasion up...for lasting power. It didn't matter as Maat never missed. Next time I'm going in full-offense.

You use 4 jinpus? Hmm... Maybe you need 5? If that fails, back to the drawing board.

I used five. He tackled me after the third, interrupting my chain. I quickly popped an icarus wing and dropped two more on him when the stun wore off. Then I went down to a 300-point Combo. Maybe you have to do three different renkei.

I'm still gona try to do a renkei with the order of WS's 1>8>7>6 and pray Maat realizes i don't hate on the elderly population on vana'diel and submit to me =\ may give it a shot just for kicks and grins here soon but i don't really see me getting serious about it until 70.

                  I'm not sure.

I may be wrong, I would NOT want to contest the great Nodachi (I'm not jesting here, I do have utmost respect for you), but with meikyo, wouldn't:
Koki > Jinpu > Yuki > Gekko produce a level 3 renkei solo?

I believe the order would be:
                  Koki > (Detonation) > Jinpu > (Gravitation) > Yuki > (Distortion) > Gekko?

Maybe I'm just tired and reading the chart way off.
(Jinpu > Jinpu > Yuki > Gekko should work too. It's just my habit of using different WS with meikyo... I view it as a pretty fireworks show, with the added bonus of taking a nice chunk of hp out of the mob.)

Thankful for input on the issue.
                  (I shouldn't be shaky on renkeis in my 50+, I know. ;_

I'm not a samurai, but...the chain you posted won't work. Koki->Jinpu would make detonation, but Yuki would not even chain with that. It's elements are induration and detonation, neither of which will chain on a detonation.

Nodachi is right here, the reason you can't make a level 3 skillchain solo before the quest weaponskill is because you need gravitation to precede Gekko (distortion element). Since great katana has no compression weapon skill (before the quest one) you can't make a level 3. With the 250 skill it would be easy to do, just need to precede it with fragmentation (I believe yuki->gekko would work).

                      Ah, good to know.

Ok, then it's just my chart that is messed up. According to the chart, Jinpu OR Yuki links with another Yuki for gravitation, dark/earth... And from there, it links to lvl3 dist/dark.

                      Might have to start looking for another chart then... ;_;

Anyways, thanks for clearing it up.

Yeah. I had that chart too. But, it's been updated/corrected.

Best thing to do would be to test renkeis using our 2hr on strong too weak mobs beforehand. It's how i confirmed infinit Jinpus renkei'd.

Yeah, sticking three renkei for the win was bogus. You gotta beat him down like just about everyone else.

                          Misc. info:
*He never missed me in my three runs, not once.
*Seems to have a preference to Combo>Spinning Attack>Shoulder Tackle when he uses Meikyo Shisui.
                          *Uses Meikyo Shisui very early.
                          *Hits rather hard.

My strategy after debunking the three renkei theory was as follows...

                          Gear Configuration:
Switched out my Ochi's, Lightning Bow and Sniper's for Myochin Kote, Happy Egg and Phalanx Rings. Picked up an Icarus Wing, Shogun Riceball and seven Hi-Potions. Full attack gear otherwise. Don't worry about the negative evasion on your haubergeon or earrings because it really doesn't make a difference.
                          Prep:
*Made macros for the Icarus Wing and Hi-pots.
*Ate the riceball before entering to make use of the HP bonus.
*Zoned into the SC, immediately hit the meditate macro then waited for it to pop again.
*Used Third Eye and waited for the recast timer to hit 15 before charging.
                          Fight:
The plan was to tough out his 2hr, heal up, then go apeshit with Meikyo Shisui.

By allowing the Third Eye recast timer to count down to 15 before engaging I was able to blink his first attack and then have Third Eye immediately available again. The second Third Eye was used to disrupt his 2hr chain. At the end of his 2hr I was at roughly 150hp (he got 2 crits in between his weapon skills). After his bit was over I spammed my hi-pot macro until I had guzzled all 7 potions then launched my Meikyo Shisui devastation.

                          -Jinpu
                          -Meikyo Shisui
-Gekko [Reverberation] (double attack went off for an impressive 800dmg here)
                          -Meditate
                          -Yukikaze [Induration]
                          -Gekko [Fragmentation]
**Maat drops below 0 HP and gives up here.
                          -Gekko [Distortion]

I had something like 258hp left after punking him. He quit before the last weapon skill in my planned renkei so I had no use for the Icarus Wing I bought...good insurance to have one though.

double attack couldn't have gone off because you have no subjob during this fight
and I was under the impression that all buffs (including food) were removed once you entered the bc

Shogun Riceball gives a +8 bonus to double attack. Items/effects with such bonuses allow you to double attack without a warrior sub. All buffs except food are removed when entering.
