That may be so, but a lot of people look at this one-sidedly. I have respect for all classes and have a general idea of what purpose each job has. Again, GKT is very versitile and can chain with a lot of other weapon skills which is a great addition to any party that has other meleers and mages.

Off topic, a mage thanked me a couple weeks ago. He was finally able to get a hang of MB because he had so many opportunities to MB off of my own sc, a sc between the pld and I, and a sc between a thf and I. Was very fun ^^v

hmm Interesting Topic.. 1st off I am a 61 sam..
Comparing sam and drg at same level with almost same equip , I have to say that I am somehow inferior compared to drg/sam

Agreed I can penta thrust, drg's penta deals more damage.. so even with spear i still lose on damage. (with bard in party with +acc song, and gd equips)

On katana, with meditate i can pull off 2 WS at most while drg with meditate, +penta can pull off 3 WS ( if he jumps).

Ok... sam/war can tank then??? No way, dragoon can super jump
meditate is 3 min cool down, super jump is 5min, that isnt far.. alomst everytime he medi.. he can super jump.

So probably we are only gd at renkei, but even that... everyone else can renkei..

Well I generally think that sam has hard time outdamaging drg or drk. Tanking is bad.

However.. I just think sam is COOL and that's all it matters when u play sam ^^

I love having a SAM in my partys. A SAM in the PT means that you can WS chain every mob and twice on the high IT's. That means more WS effects and more MB damage. It all adds up to more xp.
Not to mention Penta doesnt make any good ws effects.

Pentathrust really is laughable >< Great for farming low level mobs tho. Wait till 66 and your fighting undead in Gustav for xp Uber 70 damage pentathrusts!

If your only concern is you, you, you and your own high damage numbers, drg is probably more your style. I thought this was established some time ago.

I mean, if drg is that impressive, and you think samurai are gimp, why not start a drg. You already have a war and samurai sub leveled and alot of pricey gear will transfer.

I know the other night when we invited our first penta enabled drg, we weren't impressed at all at her ability to draw aggro, inability to make a good renkei, etc. Our PT killed more efficiently and got better exp over time when they left and we were short a member.

Its been pretty well known, at least I thought, that samurai don't do more personal damage than a drk and drg later on in the game. I don't understand why it comes as a shock to people when they finally get there and it turns out to be true.

Um, straith who exactly are you speaking to there? I don't think anyone is doubting DRGs do more stand alone damage. The SAMs strength is in versatility, which this thread has further confirmed. I am happy with that.

No other job in the game can form as many varied skillchains, as often as a Samurai. That to me is power, thats a unique role and I enjoy being a Samurai due to that. We're not as common as other jobs, which makes it even more fun to play.

And on the matter of DRG vs. SAM. It's like comparing Apples with airplanes. . . sure they both fall into the catagory of being a melee class but you can't say one is particularly better than the other.
that was one funny and true statement.

but im not at that high a lvl yet, but from what i've heard, it seems that drg's play more by themselves and do nice damage, but that sam's are a little more versatile and can make other melee classes like drk's and war's more useful.

heres a question, i know scythe does the best damage, but what about great axe. when you look at berserker it only does 2 less damage then the highest scythe, and i think like 5 more then the highest spear

how much lower is the highest GK dmg compared to the highest scythe dmg?

Exactly.....I myself don't know where this comparison comes up from. DRG & SAM are two totally different styles of play. SAM focus on SCs and MBs, while DRG do damage. If Dragoons feel superior to us for having to spam a five-hit weapon skill to get ahead of us in TP.....than by all means let them do it. If you feel inferior(I don't know why though), realize your job isn't damage.....your a team-player...

for the last 10 or so levels multi-hit weapon styles become highly marginalized as level 3 WS chains come into effect. Pentathrusts damage is nearly nothing on the skeletons you will be fighting and only serve to build the monsters TP bar so he can do another special attack on the group.

Not quite. I know that at least one Murasame exists on Fairy, and I've seen it... it looks like the lv26 Ashura, and it's hardly the best GK in the game.

Well I'm hearing different things about drg from here and the dragoon section of the forum. You guys saying it's a better damage dealer and in the other section I hear it totally sucks at lv60+. Not just measly skill dmg compared to the other adv jobs but also no invites at high levels.

The truth is both jobs are pretty much boned 60+. If spears are you thing though, go with dragoon. The difference between an A+ weapon and a B weapon becomes very significant later on.
