  • Ochidou's Kote....

Are these worth the time/gil to get?
If not, what do you use instead?

    Thanks

I got my AF gloves and I just use them for DEX +4, but since Ochiudo's Kote requires a lower lvl to wear em, I'd use it if I had the money.

Yeah, they are nice Gloves, you can get them at lvl 34 if you had the Gil, and I see most high level Samurais wearing them instead of their AF Gloves.

One quick question I might as well ask here.
If you wore the AF Gloves for the Riceball Effects, could you wear them, eat that T. Riceball(the one with +1 Double Attack) take the gloves off and put on these gloves and still keep the bonus of the Riceball w/ the +20 Attack =)

Yeah you sure could. I don't actually eat riceballs during PTs anymore but i switch between ochidos and AF using macros. Ochidos when i don't have hate, AF when i do.

Are you sure about that? I heard elsewhere that once you remove the AF Gloves the effect goes away.

Not sure if that's true or not, but having +65 ATT for an hour sounds pretty frickin awesome. Almost TOO awesome.

Nevermind... I did some calculations and it turns out that Meat Mithkabobs are still better for the most part. AF Gloves+Salmon Riceball>Ochiudo's Kote is only better for a marginal amount of time, and possibly not at all.

              brr

AF gloves are far better than ochido kote.
toriyama rice ballz are better than mithkabob by far.

I got ochido kote to use from my friend for a few minutes.
My 1st combo was to use AF gloves + rice ball then switch to Kote.
Thus getting +20 extra ATK, But it didn't work, as soon as I took off gloves the effect I gained from rice went down. when I put the gloves back it went up again.
Kote gloves are good until you get AF gloves and probably until that time you will stick to mithkabobs, but when u get your hands on AF gloves those are far the best gloves you will ever have in the whole game. the rice balls cost 4.6k on my server but it is far supperior compared to mithkabob.

I myself always use toriyama rice balls w/ AF. + berserk and my ATK goes up to 407, w/ Burnye Armor it is +20 to attack and it is very noticebly when you do WS or just a simple hit. My friend gave me Burney to try it on, but I still want Haubergeon, since it is far the best armor for samurai even though it has -20 EVA. +1 version cost 3 millions and i don't know when i will be able to get my hands on it. burnye cost around 1.5-2 mil but it is not worth it.

As for the missing factor it really pisses me off. I think it has to be fixed, I have missed for 10-20-30 times straight w/ my GTK, and all that was w/ +15 dex and + 14 Accuracy gear. Just happens, but sometimes I do hit a way too much and too hard, which kinda looks awesome..

Sadly to say, the rice ball effect goes when you unequip your AF gloves. I keep both with me for different situations, (i also carry Royal knights chain and Jujitsu gi), but for me atleast, the precentage attk up from mithkabobs +20 attk kote (which is calculated before kabobs too, so giving 23-5ish attk with the food) exceeds the +set attk from the rice balls. the reason you see so many high lvl sam using the kote is that the precentage attack is much more then a set 45, true the dex/vit/str and att/def with +double attack is nice and all, it just depends on what you are doing.

I use rice balls with my afgloves with my Royal knights for heavy pulling and trick buddy, but if im having a hard time hitting, i switch back over to the jujitsu gi. To bad i have to wait 30 min for the timer of rice balls to end or mithkabobs before i can switch gloves =\. If anything, you can buy them low and keep em till you either :

                A) love em and never get rid of them or

                B) wait for the mnk/nin/sam from ps2 version want them and spike the price way up and sell them off.

Neithan, if anything the prices are going to drop~ not rise.

By the time the PS2ers get the money to buy them (400k+) there will be that many more taken off of NMs by players who need money.

Hell, leaping boots (CHEAPER) dropped from 290k to 190k on my server.

I know for a fact that these are a MNK's best friend, just because they have plenty of evasion to spare and can cast dodge (And of course, they pack a punch!) A SAM, would probably use them until their Def starts lacking. I would save my money if I were you... unless you have future plans to lvl your MNK.

I still wear Ochiudo's Kote at 65. I've been wearing 'em since 34. Hope that answers your question.

                          Yes... No?

Gotta love the surly sam Kyoujin....
Always as elaborate and modest ^_^

I hear that There are different camps, there are those like Kyoujin who swear by their Kote, and those who would gladly use af even if kote was Questable and AF cost 300k.

The only real good way is to try them both for yourself though.
Ask a nice friend when you get there to lend you kote and compare them to Af. Own conclusions are often among the best ones ^^

                          Hope this helped, bye!
