In hindsight, I got really really really lucky. If you don't have high level friends (I see Tabin in that SS!) then you have to be like me and ask. After the NM spawn is killed is the best time to ask obviously. I'm sure results will vary but JPs opening 3-4 doors for you (not the temple guardian ones or the non-coffer key ones) is really no big deal to them, takes like 3 mins. It's not like you're being lazy by asking, or a leech, you really have to, which is bs. I mean, the wooden gate, wtf? There are ALWAYS mobs near it so there is absolutely no way you can open it up and get through without aggro.

If you get through the gate, you might be like, hmm, I can check a few spots if I'm really lucky. As in, make sure no mobs are near the door you need opened, and open it quick and invis then peer inside. Too bad all the coffer locations, though 'centered' on the Coffer maps, are in screwed up places that you can't really see from the door. And god help you if you go invis and go inside and the door closes.

Not to mention the key. That's pretty much a test to see who your real friends are. It's not excessively *hard* to get but people get paranoid about their Tonberry faction and the general aura about Tonberries. I'll say thanks to Herby, ceph, xysq, gnom right now

I was under the impression that the coffer respawned in a different place so if after checking the few spots where you could either camp or open the door, check the spot fast, then train out tonberries while running for exit, and it wasn't there, you could wait a bit and try again. Now that I know it's not, I have to say this coffer is seriously fscked up if you get unlucky.

EDIT: Your picture is awesome btw kujo ^^ Both the map and the throne room thing, looks nice

before i was able to get tabin and xenon to help, i asked the people a couple times just to open the friggin wooden gate, and they were like (I'm sorry, I'm busy now.) little to say.. i trained tonberries and wespes from the wooden gate a few times before learning how to powder up/down fast enough to get past it on my own.

the safe room, G-7 and G-10 you can check by yourself, but that's about it.. tonberries will aggro you through the door at G-8, and like i said, there are 3 mobs at the G-9 door, and RARELY will all three of them face away from the door long enough.. your best bet is to stay invis and manipulate the camera so you can see through the walls, or target through them.. it's not the BEST way, but it works if you CAN'T get anybody to help at all.

and yeah, i know alot of coffers respawn after 20-30 minutes and repop in other places if they aren't opened.. i know beadeaux didn't.. but there are only like 4 spots in beadeaux, and all you need there is sneak.. which you don't have to take off.. but uggalepih has NINE coffer locations.. and you need invis, which you HAVE to remove to open the doors..

this coffer gets a 1,572/10 on the gayness scale.

i'd recommend going to uggalepih, with you being the only person needing a key, and after it drops, have the party help you find the coffer too. and try to get a prelate key and uggalepih key off some mobs beforehand too.. otherwise you may get screwed like i did (and people who open the next coffers should thank me ;d! ) i'd say a party of 60 could take the temple guardian fairly easily. just keep barfira up, and if you have a bard, fire carol, as well. it makes his explosion hurt alot less.. not sure if you can stun it, but that would be a plus too.

anyway.. glad to have this over with.. not too worried about the bc fight ;d alot of people want to see me in full af, and i've already had 9 people volunteer their services XD so hopefully i can arrange that sometime this week (^O^)/

and evaporated, my personal fave is the temple guardian one XD

Finally got my key late lastnight after about 30 or so minutes. Earlier today I went to the temple (solo) and gave finding the coffer a shot.

Now with both pervious coffers, I had an incredibly easy time. In Quicksand, I found the coffer within 5-10 minutes of random searching XD. In Kuftal, it only took about 10 minutes to stumble into my coffer here next to some Tiger mob.

So regardless of all the stories about how evil this coffer is, I thought I may get lucky like I had with the last two.

I zoned into the temple at J-12 and took the path to the right. I knew the zone was closeby, but wasn't 100% sure of its exact location. So I ran down a few halls till I seen a ledge leading to a dead end. So, for no particular reason, I decide to run down this hall and low and behold what did I see? A friggn coffer in plain sight on this damn ledge. So immediately I begin to think I had this one soooo easy until I realised I couldn't reach the bloody thing ><

So after drooling at the coffer for about 5 minutes, I find the zone back out to the jungle. I zone into the coffer map, open the wooden door without any problems and re-invis. I start looking around the area for the coffer I spotted back in the old map. After a ton of powders and quite awhile I decide to go back to the previous map to see if the coffer is still there.

Upon zoning into the map where I originally found the coffer, I notice its still there. I head back to the original zone to try and figure out how to reach the coffer. Upon nearing the zone line I spot a few ppl higher lv than me pounding on some mobs. Funny thing was I knew almost all of them (by name anyways, not personally). I knew they were all importers and spoke english so I sent one of them (elitemage) a tell saying I had found my AF coffer and if he could do me a favor and open the door so I could reach it. But noooooooooooo, instead of saying something like "no sorry" or "cant, we're busy", he replies with "we're looking for a coffer too! thx". I politely ask them if its ok if they could spare the coffer for me but he just ignores me and runs off to open it.

So, I decide to follow these guys in hopes I might get through a few of the doors in the coffer zone. I end up falling a bit behind to heal at the zone so I loose sight of them in the actual coffer map itself. After walking around for a minute I spot a large door where I had previously seen the Temple Guardian residing. To my surprise the door was open and the guardian dead. I quickly run inside and turn left where I notice thats where I had spotted the coffer from the previous zone. Of course the F$%#^^$% thing aint there anymore so the thf they were with probably opened it.

Ended up walking around the damn zone for a bit more till I ran out of powder and had to escape because I didn't have enough left to exit.

This coffer is total BS, and what's even more BS is when people cant be bothered to help you UNLESS you are uber fucking tight with them.

Sorry if this post is long (its more of a rant actually) but I am in an awful mood after such a stunt. Especially since half of Ragnarok is too afraid to enter the temple which makes getting a group to come and help is next to impossible....unless of course you pay people money **cough cough Jeanrc** to help =/ Well time to farm for more invis

I agree...this coffer is gay gay gay GAY!

you agree, and you didn't even have the REALLY gay coffer!

          square needs to make this coffer a respawn coffer -_- then people can go camp the safe room, and do it solo. -_-;;;

Firstly, the coffer was for me so if you have a problem direct it at me. You should do your research before going for a coffer so you know what to expect and don't cry about it when you have to wait a little longer for it. I mean seriously, other random people sending tells bothering my friends is utter bullshit when they were giving up their time to help me.

Doing it the way you were attempting it ment you only had a chance of five coffers, all of which require opening a door and risking death. One coffer is behind a door that requires an Uggalepih key which is only dropped by Ninja's and is gone after one use. One is behind a door after that door which needs a Prelate Key which, again, goes after one use. The other three are in the spawns behind the Guardian which you could've leeched past us once we had killed it as the door stays open for some time. There are two you could camp without agro assuming you could leech to get inside the "hidden room" or past the Guardian to camp the balcony.

Did you know all of that? Some more information you might not have known is that you only need Invisible in Uggalepih which would half your costs doing it the way you do.

You handeled the situation completely wrong. Not once did you ask exactly why we were there and just assumed it was so a "greedy thf" could split 4000 gil among four of us when it was for me to get the map. We killed the Guardian twice and had to kill many Cutters to get the key while the greedy Thief wasted his gil on Tonko bags to save us time and MP on casting Invisible. We also didn't open that Coffer you claimed to have seen, that was Owen who i'm sure you have heard of before. I got my coffer from the "hidden room" after working hard in there for well over an hour.

Next time send the leader of the party your tells, requests, whatever.

My post wasn't meant to piss anyone off. It was more a rant because I was angry at how it played out. I guess I'll post some more info on the situation....

                1. I knew exactly how many coffers I could reach before I started this. But I did not expect to see one while not even in the coffer map, so I was uncertain which I was dealing with.

                2. Actually I knew exactly why you guys were there. When I sent the very first msg to elitemage and asked if he could help me reach it, he said "We're also looking for the coffer, thx". So yeah I knew why you were there. Map/loot/gil any of the above. I knew (because there was no SAM in ur PT) that it wasn't AF. I'm not saying AF is more important than any of those items at all so if you're thinking that; that's not the case at all. I was just confused why your PT could not open a door where we were both going. I'm sure the reason is because you guys also wanted the coffer (I cant truly blame you).

                3. I guessed you were the ones to open it because well elite asked me several questions on where it was. So it was easy to assume wrong in thinking you had opened it. Especially since I had seen the coffer there less than a minute earlier while you guys zoned into the coffer map. Also, when I ran thro the temple guardian door, I spotted elite and seito killing an NM with the THF nowhere to be found. So yes I suppose I can take your word for it and believe you didn't open it; it just all seemed hard too believe given the circumstances.

                4. IDK what you're talking about when you say I was doing it wrong. I knew fully that only invis is needed here. I never once used a sneak oil or anything else. Exactly what did u mean? The only real costly thing about it is having to re-invis after opening a door. But it cant be helped if you're soloing the coffer.

Also, this is sorta unrelated to this event but I'll post what I have to say about it because it really angers me. More or less because I don't understand the logic behind it.

Exactly what is "utter bullshit" about a random tell? Seriously explain it to me. This seems to be just something that importers have a problem with. I remember ecko talking about it awhile ago when I was talking to him in-game (and no it wasn't because I had random tell someone so dont even start).

FFXI is a game where you need others to get the majority of things done. Sure some things can be done solo (if you get lucky), but the majority is done through helping others. I don't random tell people in jeuno for help with shit like 10 zones away because yeah thats pretty damn outta the way. So I understand the random tell thing here. But we were both in the same zone, going to almost the exact same map coordinates. So I cant really understand your logic behind random tell here. Sorry.

IDK seems sorta sad to me that some have this outlook of only helping people they are super fucking uber tight with. Shit, I help people I dont know in-game all the time. Sure random tell can be kinda odd because it has u going somewhere outta the way, or it can cut into your plans, and that's perfectly understandable. I can accept there are some people that dont feel like helping others, but I think its dead wrong to say "Help no one that random tells you". I mean WTF is up with that? You cant help ppl in need unless you know them? Do you use this same logic IRL?

I wasn't refering to anything you were actually doing skill wise, I ment you handled the actual people dealing and /tells wrong. Elite isn't the sharpest knife in the draw to be perfectly honest and, though it's pointless saying this, if you had sent me the /tells things might have panned out differently.

Nothing at all. The utter bullshit I was refering too was several of your friends sending tells to Kittycat.

And ignore Ecko, he is a moron.

Don't put words into my mouth, I never said that once. I have helped random people before and my entire day was packed with doing things - just click my sig to see what I spent the day doing.

Lastly, don't make assumptions or attack my personality please. It isn't neccesssary and it isn't welcome.

Well, I just got my AF Myochin Domaru, i took a lv.75 SAM/NIN
and a lv.63 RDM/BLM, we looked for it everywhere but in the end it came dow nto the temple guardian, we killed a tonberry in front of its door and it gave us the key first thing, then it was on to the templ guardian. it didnt take long before we killed it and it turned out that the coffer was in the room guarded by the Temple Guardian
TIP: Like the guide says, sub NIN and use Tonko: Ichi, and when it starts to wear off, cast again it will refresh it instead of losing it all together.
